Dilli Haat

Image

Luke took this picture of a craftsman at work at Dilli Haat, a permanent crafts exhibition ground, which is one of my favorite places to go to in Delhi. Naturally, I really wanted to take Luke and George there to have a look around. We spent a hurried hour there, during which time we also lost internationally renowned scholar and activist, George Cheney. Fortunately, we found him again, AND we got to buy some stuff. Posted by Picasa

In Delhi

We got to spend a bit of time in Delhi with Ruth and Mona. This is a picture of Mona with their adorable new baby boy, Arjun. Posted by Picasa

Somnathapuram

Image

There were many highlights in our trip to Mysore, but my personal favorite was the Hoysala temple in Somnathapuram. It is more than 900 years old, and is one of those places that simply transcends the space and time that it inhabits. It is the only remaining complete example of Hoysala architecture. Posted by Picasa

Elephants

Image

All of us went on the obligatory Hathi ride in Jaipur, up to Amer Fort. Here are the elephants, patiently waiting for tourists to carry uphill-- after which they demand to be fed bananas. Our elephant was named Champa, which, incidentally, was the name of one of our old dachschunds! Posted by Picasa

Chambal

Image

Luke, George and I spent some time at Jarar, a village close to the Chambal river, south of Agra. This is a picture of the Chambal- we got onto a boat and went upstream for about three hours, and sighted all kinds of wildlife- Gharials, Marsh crocodiles, turtles, and too many birds to name. The big disappointment for me was not being able to sight the Gangetic dolphin. Apparently there are about 100 of them that live in the Chambal river. Posted by Picasa

Jonathan and Nora

Image
Jonathan and Nora, at thanksgiving in Ohio. I was there for about a week, just after NCA, which was in San Antonio this year. Note that I have no photos of San Antonio. I found that it's a great place to shop, but that's about it. Posted by Picasa

Geysers

Inside the house

This is the kitchen and dining room as seen from the living room. I've more pictures of the inside of the house but will update them later. Posted by Picasa

Behind the garage

This is behind the garage... as you can see, it's quite overgrown. You can see Luke's windows and the basement door in the foreground. Posted by Picasa
