My Life in Black and White

I no longer excited to buy fashionable clothes. I was never one anyway. My go-to outift is a plain long sleeve tshirt, either white, black or grey and pair it with jeans. It's more comfortable and wallet-friendly. If only I can wear the same kurung the following week but I guess someone will notice.

The reason of my choice is because of yes, minimalism, and also because I want to get many wears of my printed scarves. Also, the focus should be on the accessories.

If I feel dressy that day, I will put on a blazer/cardigan over a plain tshirt or substitute the tshirt with a preppy plain shirt. A smart move to save for another handbag or a good pair of shoes.

Uniqlo has good quality plain long sleeve tshirts and I have them in black and white. The other day, Muji had a sale and their plain tshirt was 50% off. Got it for RM18 only. What a steal!

Reset

So, I have been reading a lot of lifestyle and culture books recently. I finished The Little Book of Hygge and Lykke, Lagom, Japonisme and right now, I am reading L'art de la Simplicite, How to Live More with Less. I am trying to buy less and only buy when I need them. On top of that, I managed to sell a lot of dUCk shawls that I did not use for a long time. It feels so great to get rid of things.

Speaking of chucking out unwanted items, I am also cleansing my social media feeds. Now that Instagram has a mute function that we can activate to accounts that we feel socially obligated to follow but their feeds are repetitive and mostly promoting products, I feel my feed is so much cleaner and I feel reborn! I feel like I am back to my good old self. Back to reading books and avoiding myself to get influenced to buy overpriced scarves and clothing items. Yes! Believe or not, I muted THAT account and the founder, fanatic followers, influencers, basically all accounts that exist for the purpose of promoting and displaying materialistic lifestyle.

I will do my best to not spend too much and only buy things of high quality and classic pieces that I can use or wear for the next 20 years. For instance, I always, always opt for Clarks for my working shoes as they are durable and classic. I only had 2 pairs of shoes since I started working in 2010. Hmmm, maybe I should invest in Ferragamo pumps next which I believe can last for more than 5 years. As for handbags, most of my dream bags, my mom had bought. I think she read my wishing list. But, it's a long list and I will never be out of choices.

Apart from that, I am not wearing primer and foundation which I think is a tough challenge for me. I hope can do this for as long as I can.

So, let's live more with less things!

P.S: Cannot wait to sort Ariq's toys and throw away all the broken ones.
