Fall and School

I'm only 2 months behind this time. :) Here's an update of our last 2 months.

Our adorable bike riders.

Joseph and his brain bead necklace.
Each week he has a learning goal and when he meets it,
he gets to pick a bead for his necklace. It's getting pretty full!

Image
Can anyone guess where Emery and Joseph like to hide?

Lorraine decided to grab on while Aaron was
feeding her and she wouldn't let go.

Overalls transformed into a dress.
It's still a bit too long for Emery,
but she liked modeling anyway.

Image
Any bets on how soon it will be
before Lorraine is bigger than Emery?

Emery's getting very good at puzzles.
She just finished this for the first time on her own.

A hair experiment I heard about. I did sleep like this.
And no, it wasn't too uncomfortable.
Image
The results. Not too bad!

Joseph the Ninja, improvised by Aaron since I
didn't finish his costume and was
in California for my Grandma's funeral.

Joseph the Pirate and Emery the witch for
 another Halloween get-together.

Guess Emery felt these soldiers needed a seatbelt.

The girls in skirts Grandma Eris made.
Emery insisted on those leggings and
got quite a few compliments.
Image
Too cute!

Joseph, handsome as always.

Look who's sitting!

My new hair. I finally broke
down and got some color put in.

A close-up of the new color.
I'm still finishing up their Halloween costumes. They weren't finished before I went to CA for my Grandma's funeral and now there's no real rush, so I'm taking my time. Hello, really nice dress-up clothes. :) Hope you enjoyed the pictures update for the last two months. We're all doing well. Joseph loves kindergarten and is making friends. Emery is handling his being gone really well and we're enjoying our time together even more. Lorraine is growing so fast and is a real joy. She loves her older siblings and that makes us very happy! Aaron's work is going well. He's working super hard and is enjoying having his own classroom this year. It's the little things that make life more enjoyable. :)

Summer 2011

This summer was quite a whirlwind for us. Not just because of the new baby, but because we kept really busy. But with 2 family reunions, 2 camp-outs, swim lessons, and a 5K under our belts (even though Julie was the only one running, it was still hard work for everyone else too!) we are ready for the school year to begin. Here are the highlights of our summer vacation!

Now first up is our trip to the Tautphaus Park Zoo. On our way to Julie's family reunion in Bear Lake, Utah, we stayed a night in Idaho Falls and went to their little zoo. The kids have never been to a zoo, so even though it's pretty small, it was just the right size. Especially carting around a new baby.
Image
Joseph brought his own camera to take pictures too.
Image
Watching the penguins.
Image
Emery admiring the baby goat.
Image
Julie was pretty impressed with their lion. They had a tiger too.
Image
This tiger was much more friendly.
Image
Emery getting up close and personal with a snake.
Due to the business of the reunion, Julie pretty much forgot to take the camera anywhere. She took one picture of the insane wind storm that happened one night, but the camera deleted it somehow and the picture disappeared. So, all we have are pictures of our drive back. We pulled over to let the caravan of Julie's parents and sister catch up. We just happened to stop at a huge pile of gravel. So Aaron decided to have fun with the kids by sliding down the gravel pit on a plastic tub lid.

Getting ready to go down!

Image
Thankfully, she slept through our little stop.
She's not the happiest car traveler.

Image
Finally asleep. I should've documented all of her wardrobe changes.
She had about 4 or so different outfits since she apparently got hit with
some virus that gave her horrible diarrhea.
It hit a few hours after we left. It is just finally clearing up,
a few months later.
Here are some of their trips down the gravel pit.

Image
Ridge and Lorraine.
She's only 2 weeks older than he is, but what a size difference!

Image
This is Joseph asleep at the table.
He was having way too much fun playing with his cousins.

Image
The Burnham cousins came with us to Mollie and Mariah's birthday party.
It was a ton of fun!

Waving bye bye to Grandpa Mike, Ashley and Emma.

Waving bye bye to Grandma Eris and Aunt Stephanie's bunch.
This next group of pictures is from a day trip to Tally Lake.  It was a nice little trip. A prelude to our first camping trip as a family.
Image
I think she looks so sweet in this one.
Image
A rabbit we were watching. Caught it mid-jump.
Image
Going to see Tally Lake.
Image
Proof that me and Lorraine were there.
Image
What else do you do at a lake?
Image
Monkey see, Monkey do. :)
Image
Isn't it beautiful where we live?
Image
Joseph, Emery and Grandpa walking to the lake.
Image
Joseph was like this a while during summer vacation. Exhausted!
The next pictures are from our first family camping trip in our tent. It was a little rough. It was Emery's first time in a tent. She woke up quite a bit. Lorraine's early wake-up schedule was also a bit rough. Not to mention midnight breastfeeding in the freezing cold!

Making pie irons at a family camp-out.

Image
Putting the baby to sleep in the wild!

Image
Our tent was quite the hopping place to play!
These pictures are from the Denney Boy Family Reunion. I didn't get much on film, but it was a lot of fun. The first day, all the Denney Boys were working, so the grandparents and daughters-in-law took the Denney Brood for a walk.
Image
The kids took every opportunity to hike up to a look-out.

Image
Emery insisted on going up too!

Image
Me and Lorraine. She spent a lot of time in our wrap this summer.

One tired little girl, and a catnapping Papa.
Here are some other random pictures from the summer.

Ice cream cones in the summer are the best!

Yummy!

Image
We made our own crayons out of all our broken crayon bits.

Image
I think they are the coolest thing!
Next are a few pictures from Joseph's 5th birthday! It's hard to believe he's already 5, but once you look at him you know what a big boy he is! Here comes kindergarten!

The Optimus Prime Pinata

All the kids got 2 turns, then the adults went for it.
We ultimately ripped it apart. :)

The boys were coveting parts of Optimus. Too cool.

Blowing out all 5 candles.
Here are some more random pics of the summer.

He was all bummed that once he slid down the last slide it was over.
He wanted to keep playing on it!

Just like his Papa! Aaron's having a great start
to his 3rd year teaching, and is now teaching
seminary too!

One more picture of the great Oz. :)
Alright, that's everything! Hope you enjoyed the big great download of our summer vacation! Maybe I'll give you a shorter post next time. :)
