Hi! I'm glad you're here!

Growing up in Tennessee with an engineer for a father and a therapist for a mother, you could say that I got the best of both worlds.

And, that is why I say I’m a techy-feely human!

I remember playing with my father’s oscilloscope in the garage and trying to make the sine waves change by tapping on things that it would "hear". I became fascinated with what these instruments could tell me. My dad is instrumental is why I call my VO business "aj wms voices" and my mom gave me the gift of storytelling and listening for the emotion in things.

And, when you work with me, 1% of my revenue goes to a sustainable business aligned with the 1% For the Planet network since I am a member of Voiceover For the Planet

After over 30 years in education, I decided to take my interest in audio to another level and I’m ready to mirror that techy side of me with the feely side of communication using my voice.

Can you tell me more about your background?

My unique blend of experiences help tell your story creatively!

Before becoming a voiceover artist, the bulk of my career was in higher education. I came into instructional technology as it was becoming digital and it was exciting to being able to work with digital audio and video from the beginning…it was my new oscilloscope!

I love when I can introduce both technical and emotion-led communication into what I do. I rely on my background in education, primarily focused on science and technology in both formal and informal settings, to bring more technically oriented voiceover projects to life in a natural and relatable way.

I have written and produced science museum exhibits and demonstrations, created short television spots teaching science, trained college faculty on creating online classes, led an educational and multimedia technology department, and been the Vice-President of Information Services/Chief Information Officer for the largest community college in Tennessee and a soft hits FM radio DJ.

All of these experiences have helped me as I created "The Sky is NOT The Limit" - a video series exploring the science and emotion of space, weather and the sky. Episodes are released every two weeks on LinkedIn, BlueSky and YouTube feeds.

Are you a trained voiceover artist?

My high level of training means my voice work is professional and polished!

My training started through Such A Voice with Glad Klassen as my coach and Tara Rao as one of my demo producers. In addition to on-going work with SAV, I continue my training and education with a wide variety of voice professionals such as sessions with Elaine Clark, Stacia Newcomb, Sara Sherman and Elley-Ray Hennessey, audiobook workshops with Sean Pratt and Scott Brick, an audiobook masterclass with Marc Cashman and Dan Musselman, and e-Learning training with Carrie Olsen and with Brad Hyland in one-on-one sessions.

I completed the two part Intensive Mini-Course in Medical Narration with Debbie Irwin and continue to coach with her and with Christi Bowen as part of The Voiceover Exchange (TVOE).

Can you describe your recording quality?

You don't need to worry about audio quality or renting a studio.

Thanks to my experience in creating multimedia productions for courses and performance spaces, I can record and edit my own recordings in my home studio meeting your audio specifications. Need specific file types, file naming or long form files split for different chapters or modules? No problem!
