Sleeping in Seattle
I talked to my mom about three hours before we left for the airport and we decided to postpone the trip until I had someone to look after the boys. I was so stressed about the icy roads, 2 hour waits for taxis and subjecting to boys to insanely long waits at the airport, that I realized it was making me sick. As sad as I am about not spending Christmas with my family, I know I did the right thing. Why put the kitties through the rigours of travel if it's not necessary. I will try my best to get to Texas by New Years and hopefully can find a truly reliable person to take care of Bertie and Elvis. I can't tell you how much better I feel, and judging from the boys reaction, they do too. Jeeze, did they look dapper in their little harnesses. They look naked without them now.

Christmas Carl (a.k.a. the only cat in this house who will let me dress him up)
Elvis got the antlers and started fussing before I could even set him down. Once on the ground he tipped over and played possum, effectively ending any holiday photo ops I had in mind.Oh well. Here is a picture of what could have been.

Kitty Basics 101
Albert somehow managed to jump onto the highest counter top in the house on Sunday and stick his face right into a candle. I was in the process of moving the candle to a higher shelf when it happened so it kind of seemed like really bad timing on both of our parts. He didn't cry out and I think was more concerned by the stink coming from the few whiskers that got singed. I wiped down his face with a wet rag and checked his eye and everything looked ok. He was back to chasing Elvis around the house as soon as I set him down. The next day the squinting started. We had another vet appointment that afternoon so I had the vet check him out. Thankfully the vet said all was well and he just had a minor boo-boo at the corner of his eye and that it would heal in no time. He then stuck two booster shots in his butt and sent us home. So, today, little Albert is squinting like a pirate and on top of that, has an upset tummy from the vaccinations. Today is not his day, poor little boy.Lesson Learned: NO CANDLES, what was I thinking
On top of that, I feel like the kits are just a little too young to travel all the way to Texas for Christmas. They are too big to both be in the carrier and unless I want to sedate them, which I don't, they are constantly crying and trying to gnaw their way out. So, if anyone is in the Seattle area and knows of a really safe boarding place or cat sitter who could come by a couple of times a day, I'm all ears.
P.S. Both kids are healthy says the vet and Elvis officially reached the 5 lb. mark and Albert is about half a pound away. Such big little guys.

Sweet Dreams...
Maybe it's the angle, but Elvis reminds me of Tigger in this picture.
I bet Albert is dreaming of his first Christmas and all of the toys he gets to Such happy boys.
