We had such a fun day celebrating with Jill today. She is full of so much happiness for life and we enjoyed spending her favorite day with her. You can't help but be happy around Jill.
We started out with a family breakfast and presents. We gave Jill an earring holder and then surprised her with letting her know she would be getting her ears pierced today. She was so excited she couldn't talk. Then she talked about it all day.
Here is the reasoning behind the surprise: A few weeks ago when I opened up Jill's school photographs I noticed she had earrings on. She doesn't have her ears pierced, but she must want to, so she took those small metal rings that come in the 25 cent machines and used them as earrings. I thought it was so cute. So I thought it would be a perfect birthday gift, as she has never asked to get her ears pierced or even talked about it. It was a perfect surprise. The reaction was one of Jill's best!
We then had her friend party. She wanted a Rock star party, so we had a day full of music, dancing and singing to lots and lots of Justin Beiber and Salena Gomez. I stayed up until 4 am decorating for the party. There were streamers, and balloons and lights everywhere. The girls loved dancing with their glowing jewlery and balloons in the dark.
After the party I took Jill to get her ears pierced! She talked about it the whole way! Quote of Jill: I can believe I am getting my ears pierced. This is so crazy. I am "totally" freakin' out! This was said many times with huge smiles on her face and little giggles. It really was priceless. She hasn't stopped talking about it! (I couldn't believe how expensive it was! Not like when I was a child for $10.)
Jill said this was the best day of her life! She loved it! I agree, it probably was. Her Joy makes all the time worth it.
The birthday I remember the best is also my 8th birthday. I was so happy and was SO excited to get the game "Clue" and a Ginny doll.
