[Content Advisory: Talk of booze, sickness, hospitalization and other health-related things]
So there were two things I did not understand when I went to chug-chug-chug down the contents of that glass of beer--okay, there were a WORLD of things I did not understand but only two of them are pertinent to the story at hand: the first was that we weren't actually leaving yet, so it wasn't in any danger of going to waste.
The second and much more important thing was that my liver had been slowly on the verge of failing for the last few days and that this sudden rush of toxins REALLY wasn't going to help.
We'll get back to that last bit in a second.
So, okay, I got an ear infection just before my first trip out to England.
This is pertinent, I swear.
It wasn't life-threatening or anything, but it was absolutely bad enough that I needed to get some meds for it. They helped quite a bit but holy wow was the ride there painful. Pressure changes on inflammation? Yeah, would not recommend that if you have the option. Still, though, the antibiotics they put me on were doing wonders. There the usual questions about me being allergic to penicillin but as I'd been fortunate enough to go through most of my life without needing the stuff, I couldn't say for sure, so we decided to try 'cause, hey, the stuff is losing its effectiveness what with all the people allergic to it and the bacteria developing immunities and whatnot.
Anyway, for the week or so before the trip I'd been taking my meds like a good patient and I didn't, y'know, die or anything, so we put that worry aside.
The trip was a lot of fun. Met up with some friends, wandered around London, ate some new foods, saw some new movies, and explored some new places. The proper things to do when people invite you over.
