have my babes REALLY changed THAT much in one year?

7/5/11

2 babies

Image Image edith and emerson are only 16 months apart. and with edith walking SO late (and then breaking her leg) it has seemed like i have had two babies for a long time.Image they are so dang cute together

Image and maybe a little spoiled

ImageImage edith has always been really sweet with emerson...and he loves her! Image they even throw tantrums together.

ImageImage she calls him "ehsun" and will talk in a baby voice to him

ImageImageImageImageshe loves to take his bottle or toy or food away from him and make him say "please" or "thank you".

they really are the cutest ever. and that is written without any baised whatsoever.

5/1/11

i have a small problem. ok. maybe it's my kids problem...in that case i guess that it still IS my problem. ANYWAYS. here it is: every time i go to take a picture of one of my cuties to capture the moment, to remember how adorable or how naughty they were, or to preserve memories for generations...this happensImage "henry, look at the camera!"

Image"edith, look at me and say cheeeeese"

Image"emerson, look at mamaaaa!"

Image you see my problem? i am trying to figure out what the deal is! my kids for the life of them canNOT look directly into the camera. my sister genevieve calls it "shifty eyes", i call it annoying.

other kids don't seem to share the same problem.

Image here's a double whammy for you.

Imagei may or may not say things such as "you will not have any treats if you don't look at the camera". or "if you don't look at the camera you will be in trouble".

what? you don't think that threats are conducive to happy smiles for a picture?

Imagei don't think henry realizes he is standing in front of edie. and he still isn't looking at the camera!

Image its been going on now for some time now (lovin' those chubby cheeks and belly!)

i think that edith has mastered it and apparently a little knee-pop model pose.

Image alastair is pretty good at it too. and when i yell "ali...look. at. the. camera" he smile becomes even bigger and more painful looking and he flares his nostrils. hmmm.

Image maybe it's an age thing. freddy and justin are able to focus on the camera for a minute.

Image

or maybe because i take too many pictures, or my children are so brilliant that they have to be constantly looking around themabsorbing new and wonderful things. (heehee) more like they know that it drives me crazy! either way...my problem still remains. *sigh*

4/6/11

Image you know those annoying moms who follow around their kids with stupid grins on their faces because they think that their child is the most adorable, amazing, gorgeous, endearing and sweetest child in the world?

Image i think i have just become one.

but the difference between them and me is that i am actually right.

Image i have had a lot of people ask me if having a girl is all i thought it would be and the answer is YES!!!
Image when i had my 20 week ultrasound on edith, the tech said it looked like it was a girl, but i HAD to be sure. so. she asked another tech to come in and to confirm it. after 20 minutes of poking and prodding and me contorting myself into crazy positions...they said that they were almost positive.
that week her nursery was painted pale pink...and the chandelier put up.

Image
Imagegetting edie dressed every morning (or sometimes several times a day) NEVER gets old.
Imageshe is automatically part of the "first daughters club" among her cousins
Image she actually loves to shop with me. *sigh*
Imageand in return. i am addicted to shopping FOR her.
Image she is the darling of her girl cousins.
ImageImage she adores to help us clean, scrub and pick up. (seriously?)
Image she adores her aunties completely and asks to call each one of them several times a day.
Image she thinks that she is in charge of "baby" as she still calls emerson. and just like the boys...she is completely comfortable in her birthday suit.
Image she likes things her own way.
Image and she knows how to get what she wants
Image
Imageshe is affectionate
Image LOVES her cousins her age and prays for them every night!
Imageshe adores dressing up.
Imagethere are some trademark edie things that we all adore and that her teenage girl cousins taught her. one of them is when she gets dressed up she says "fashion" and poses.
these are the poses that she does when saying "fashion"
ImageImageseriously? it cracks me up!
Image Image Imageshe is bossy, opinionated and has possibly the loudest cry in the universe.
she loves to do things on her own...but also to boss the boys around and ask her aunties and uncles to hold her constantly.
Image
Imageshe is irresistible, sweet, loves to be with me, loves to take baths and makes henry or ali take one with her. she loves pizza, cereal and fish crackers, popcorn and sleeping in our bed. still adores blankets and sippy cups and will tell the boys to make her a "ba-ba". she potty-trained HERSELF in one day. every time she meets someone, she shows them her "heabow", or "pretties" (necklace or bracelet). she is amazing. she is demanding and darling. she is our edie.
