Hooo it's been a long time. I know I promised to post more frequently, but honestly it's been the 2 weeks of hell for me. Everything work and school related converged to a hot white point of panicky chaos, but I'm still standing in the end, lightly singed, so it's all good.

I've been secretly moonlighting at a different blogsite, cuz I needed to sign up to comment on a friend's page, and it just snowballed from there, so I think I'm a bit more comfortable blogging now. Look! no edits or corrections yet! w00t

So it's been a wild week, but not the fun bloggy kind of wild. Just a whole lotta stuff to do. My partner in my big OS project, the legendary project of my major, is a 3D game programmer and a cool guy to boot. He's also the only guy I've met so far who I can have a conversation about all the nerdy programming stuff that runs through my head and makes me giddy with joy, and know he's not glazing over. He's also a big gamer (liek duh), and I'd say the first flash-esque friend that I didn't make through a connection. So yay for geek networking.

I played big-2 with my roomies, first to lose 100 cards (for those who don't know what big-2 is, it's a card game, displayed prominently in hong kong gangster cinema, that's a lot like 'asshole') has to do the worst chore. It ended up being me, and came down to a sudden death round for all the marbles between me and my arch nemesis / best male friend. I won't do a card-by-card analysis, but it was very high intensity, like in Maverick, but in the end, I'll be the one cleaning the bathroom of 3 lazy guys that hasn't been cleaned in probably 6 months. yarr :S

Anyways, I'm blogging cuz I feel awesome, which is nice cuz it's been a while since I've even smiled and meant it. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care flist :)

My stoner-movie journey through Chicopee [Feb. 23rd, 2006|06:22 pm]

[Current Mood |mellowmellow]

(Disclaimer, this isn't how I spend every Wednesday)

Alright, so it's been an up-and-down week, mostly down because I haven't been sleeping and all the real-world crap that I've been trying to avoid like work and school had come knocking with a vengeance all at once. But no matter, because yesterday was the beginning of my 2 day reading week. While all my friends decided to high-tail it to Toronto, I decided to do what I'd wanted to do all Winter here, and that was go snowboarding in the middle of the week, and dammit that's just what I did. Grabbed my snowboard, a duffelbag with various things in it, and hit the bus to Chicopee, a ski hill somewhere in the middle of two nowheres. So it was just me, with a day warm enough for me to be one of those badasses who snowboards without a jacket or a hat. So it was pretty cool, throwing myself down crazy slopes (Chicopee isn't particularly impressive, just close enough), throwing snowballs at the 15yr olds. After a couple of really nasty falls, and the back of a foot that was raw from chaffing, I decided to call it a night after 3.75 hours.

So I go to the chalet bar, and a very pretty girl bought me a Sleemans cream ale. Too bad she was working for Sleemans, but hell I'll take it. So a few minutes of chilling and elbow-rubbing at the bar was enough for me, and I packed up and took the long walk to the first of a series of bustops. After about 20 mins of waiting, a dude by the name of Paul, awesome easy-going guy from the slopes, comes and waits with his snowboard.

We gets to talking, and tells me he can't wait to get home and get fully baked. We decide it's gonna be a long while till the bus comes, so he busts out a bong, and lights up, hiding it every now and then when the cop cruisers pass by. So me getting into the whole moment and the conversation about the gnarly 5's and whatnot we were pulling, I take a few drags along with him, and it is some powerful stuff, as I came to realize later that night (foreshadow!). The bus finally comes, I get on. He gets off his stop, and I get off at the next stop, at a big terminal, at the middle of the night, in a strange town, high as shit, with a snowboard under my arm, trying to find out how to get home. Actually, I was just continually smiling at nothing, and turning in circles, something I didn't realize till after remembering it later. There was this guy eating a Burger King Whopper in the bus shelter, and I wanted to go up and ask him how to get home, but every time I walked toward him, I started to feel an uncontrollable urge to giggle, so I kept taking a step toward him, giggling once, then stepping away, over and over. He was probably very freaked out. After a while, getting home wasn't important anymore, but finding out where he got the whopper. Even then, I couldn't control myself, and never found out :(

Finally A bus came, and I got on it, first forgetting to pay, then struggling with my wallet trying to find a ticket as if I was dismantling a bomb. It turned out to be the right bus, and I went down to my town's station. I was starting to come down to normal, except now I was getting paranoid of everyone around me. The guy who came and sat next to me, I suspected of wanting to jump me. The girl across me, I suspected of continually staring at me. Of course it was all in my head (but then it's not unusual to get jumped in that terminal.. or I guess stared at for that matter...). Finally, the bus came, and all I wanted to do was get home and crawl into a warm bed and sleep. More struggling with my bus transfer, and a heartfelt apology to the bus driver later, I was on my way back to town. I got in, jumped into bed at midnight, the earliest all week, and fell right to sleep instantly. It was the best sleep in a month.

This whole next day has been the most relaxing day ever. I glossed over most of the fun had during the actual yesterday (and night), though there was much of it. I needed that just to reresh myself from all the drudge of this last.. 2 months. Now I'm heading back to Toronto tonight to see the family, hopefully catch up with old friends, and get some work down with a smile on my face for a change.

For those who have it, happy reading week (march break), or what's left of it!

RIP Andreas Katsulas [Feb. 19th, 2006|01:16 pm]

Sad week for B5 fans. Andreas Katsulas, famous for his role as G'Kar on Babylon 5, not to mention others in shows like Star Trek, passed away this Monday, February 13th. Rest in peace, Mr. Katsulas. You'll live forever in the memories and hearts of your legions of fans.

On a happier note for B5 and related fans, Michael Straczynski was in Toronto this week recording a special 20-part series for CBC Radio One called "The Adventures of Apocalypse Al". I can't wait to hear it, since I love Straczynski's work; as hokey as the dialogue usually is, the story arcs and characters are AWESOME, and it's in Toronto! WooT.dot!

It's been a while. I'm sorry to everyone who ever read my blog for this huge delay. I can't tell you how many times I opened it up, and stared a blinking cursor, not being able to think of a sentence to type... more like not being able to find a sentence worth typing.

Blog Agenda:
1. Happy (belated) birthday to me.
2. Manhattan bound.
3. Stresses.

It's been a slow week. I finally got my sleep back on track and was going to bed as early as 10:30! for a while. But I've also been seeing my friends a lot more this week, so over the week, the 10:30 has been chipped down to 4:30am as of last night, but that was a freak accident and a Christmas party. My secret santa guy/girl couldn't make it :( but my receiver of secret santa seemed to enjoy my gift of seatbelt covers (car guy). Except I think I was the only person who stayed within the agreed price range, so seatbelt covers seemed a bit cheap (and they were, by agreement!!) compared to the other stuff there.

We played Cranium at the very end, which is an AWESOME game. Our team made an outstanding last minute comeback with guessing that Pawkit Proutecktawr and Maiden Chopin were NOT characters in any Star Trek series, but no one on my team could get my acted out Pepe Lepieu (which, if you try to picture a guy trying to mime a smelly molester in front of friends and strangers, is even more painful) because no one had ever HEARD of Pepe Lepieu. How is that possible? Anyways, it was a night of good clean fun.

I'm planning on hitting the slopes again today. Mt. Tremblant is going to feel my wrath!

The plan for midnight sleepage didn't work out, but I finally broke my sleep fast at 3am, and it was fantastic, like a bittersweet reunion with an old friend. I thought it would take weeks to change my sleeping habits back to normal hours, but well... there you have it.

I woke up at 10am on my own accord, and went snowboarding at a quaint little place called Dagmar, which charges ridiculous rates for its lift tickets, but as it is about 2 hours closer than anything of even remotely comparable calibre, I'll let them get away with it. I thought it'd take me a lot longer to get back into it, but after a few warm up runs, I was good to go. Strangely, I'm not as bruised and beat up as I usually am, which I don't take to mean I've gotten better, but that I'm not as reckless as I usually am. My only real wipeout was when I was going for a ramp at the edge of the run, next to the trees, and my board wasn't flexible enough to drop/bend into the little ditch that led to the ramp, throwing me cerebral cortex first into the ditch and tumbling me all the way to the lip of the ramp, where I then slowly slid back down, cartoon style. Luckily it was the last run of the day and there was nobody on the lifts above to laugh and point. But this skier dude nearly took a chunk of my ear off after I'd just heaved myself over the ramp.

And last night was the WT Xmas bash, consisting of Indian buffet and Yuk Yuk's comedy club. The buffet was the funniest part of the night.

Weird weird weird weird weird WT session. At the end of class, we did this thing I'd never seen before. We had to pair up and take turns hurling terrible insults, the more profanity the better, as loud as we could at each other for 15 seconds at a time. The other person was supposed to just stand there and not let it affect them. I understand the applications, but the poor little new student was probably blown away by it. Me personally, I ran out of stuff to say in 5 seconds, and had to start quoting Tyson. My partner started laughing when I said I'd eat his children (not making any of this up). Now we're no good at hurling insults at such a fast speed, but my Si-Hing was frighteningly and dare I say, disturbingly good at it. If he did it to me for 15 seconds, I think I would start to cry.

Anyways, all my courses are done; I hated Love & Friendship, but loved Evil. Peace out.

Wrote my last flagurking exam. Insomnia still going. Learned a new song. WT Christmas party in 6 hours. WT class in 2 hours. Volleyball with highschool buddies last night. Inability to talk in full sentences. I will try to finally sleep midnight tonight. That's the plan. Wish me luck.
