I had to go to Minnetrista this last semester to collect trees for my dendrology class. I saw these in a pond and I couldn't resist taking a picture of them! :)

Summer at Spring Mill 2

This is the Pioneer Village. It's a pretty fun place to be during the summer because it is an active "village." The water wheel was turned on about every hour for the public and the saw mill was turned on a couple times a day on the weekends.

I thought the leaves made a cool pattern. :)

Hamer Cemetary

This is Donaldson Cave...there is a wet and a dry side to it. Anybody can go in the dry side, but you have to get a special permit from the park office to go in the wet side. Unfortunately, I did not get to go in this cave, but I did go in others. I hope to go back and go through it someday. Apparently you have to swim in certain parts.

These were all taken during my internship at Spring Mill State Park in Mitchell, IN this summer. I worked mainly at night so I got out a lot during the day and went hiking or driving around. :)

Thursday's Challenge- "Light"

This photo was taken in the Sacred Heart Chapel in Grand Teton National Park. It is definitely one of the prettiest and most unique stained glass windows I have ever seen.

Watery Wednesday- Belize

This is just about as watery as it gets! These were taken in the barrier reef of Belize when I went there this past summer for a field study. Belize has the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world and is one of the best preserved. I went snorkeling about 3 times a day for a week. We even went on a night snorkel one night which was pretty cool.

Summer Floods

These photos were taken this summer at the Monroe Reservoir just after there was severe flooding all over the southern part of Indiana. The rain came down so fast it was flooding before you knew it. A few of our friends had to be rescued out of their home by a backhoe while others had to be taken out by boat. Parts of main highways such as I-65 were closed for periods of time because of high water. Luckily, our house had no problems except for a little sewage backup in our basement shower.

These were all taken at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, TN. If you ever get the chance, you should definitely go and check it out! I spent a good 2-3 hours looking around this place.

This past summer I interned down at Spring Mill State Park in Mitchell, Indiana, where I got to do a raccoon population survey. I tried to take as many pictures of animals as I could!

Sky Watch Friday

The Smithsonian Institute's first building also known as the "Castle".

The Capitol building from the Mall as the sun was rising. It looks as if the sky was painted.

My mom and I went to Washington DC during my fall break of 2005. It was a great trip and I don't think I've ever walked so much in one place during my life!

All of these pictures were taken at Horseshoe Lake, Alexander County, Illinois. I got to go here on a field trip with my wildlife biology class. It looked like we were in Louisiana with all the bald cypress trees!
