Take me out to the ball game

On Thursday, August 27th Dave got off early from work and we all went to a Rockies game. It was blazing hot and our seats were in the sun but we had a great time for the hour or so that we lasted.

My adorable kids

So I know every mom thinks this about her kids but I swear I have the two cutest kids around. Zach finally let me give him a hair cut, which he was in DESPERATE need of, and I think he looks so grown up and handsome.

Julianne gets more beautiful by the day, I think. She is my California baby- golden colored skin and blonde hair.

(Please don't mind the cupboard with the door missing in the background. I was in the middle of a huge home improvement project that I'm not ready to reveal).

Why?

Why can't kids sit still for just one decent picture or give you one decent smile? I thought Julianne looked so cute in her church dress a few Sundays ago and yet I couldn't get one picture to document how cute she actually looked.

Zach gets a bike

A few Saturdays ago my friend Lindsay and I went garage sale hopping. Garage sales are always hit or miss, especially in Highlands Ranch, but on this particular Saturday I struck gold a few times. I found Zach a great bike for $5, a huge slide for $6 and some clothes for the new baby. When we were in Utah Zach couldn't get enough of his cousin Porter's bike so I knew it was time Zach got one too. I was too cheap to go buy a new one when I knew I could find a decent one at a garage sale. Well since then we (or should I say Dave) went out a bought Zach a sparkly, EXPENSIVE bike from REI because the training wheels on his garage sale bike broke. He loved both bikes but on this first day of riding his own bike he felt pretty cool.

Zach has had a helmet for a long time now and one day Julianne decided that she needed a helmet too. Weeks and weeks went by and every time we went out front to ride bikes Julianne would ask for her pink helmet. I felt bad each time when I had to tell her she didn't have a helmet. Then she would say, "Daddy buy me dat (that) when he det (gets) home." So we finally went and got Julianne her pink helmet. After all that she actually hates it and refuses to wear it. Stinker!

Park Days

So most days when it's nice outside I take the kids to the park. For some reason my kids don't like to be home all that much. I actually don't mind being out every second of every day because it is generally easier on me. When we are out doing something fun I don't have to hear constant crying and fighting and I can actually just sit and watch them play. Here are just a few pics from our many summer park days.

One morning we went to Westlands Park, a park we hadn't been to in a long time, and the kids had the best time. There is a huge slide that you have to crawl up a wall to get to, sand, swings and a climbing tree. To my surprise and satisfaction, the kids were having a great morning acting so sweet to one another. Zach is generally a naturally nice kid, except to his sister. Well on this particular day Zach was so attentive to Julianne's needs and fears. She was too scared to go down the big slide by herself so Zach sat behind her and held her the whole way down saying, "See JuJu, it's ok. I won't let you go too fast." Then one time Julianne thought she would be brave and went up to the top of the big slide by herself only to cry out for Zach once she got to the top. Zach heard her cyring and went running to the bottom of the slide and told her he would catch her. She trusted him enough to go down by herself and when she got to the bottom Zach picked her up and told her good job. It was a precious moment.

Polo Classic

On Saturday, July 11th we headed to the Polo Classic polo game for family day. It was a fun afternoon that was much more low-key than I thought it would be. The attire was "casual" but having lived in London and gone to the Royal Ascot I knew that most people don't come in casual attire to watch horses run around. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see most people dressed and acting "casually." There were some families decked out in hats and couture clothes but the majority of people were just like us. The kids loved watching the horses run around and Dave and I enjoyed all the free food and drinks.

HOT pictures of the kids!

I just love pictures of kids that are corny and make you laugh out loud. Luckily for me I have two crazy kids that seem to do funny things all the time and I just happened to have my camera handy for a few of them.

Too stinkin' cute!

I guess my kids naturally just look good in goggles... or not!

One thing I love just as much as corny pictures of kids is when parents let their kids go out in crazy ensembles. This is a picture of the kids walking to the Rec. center by our house to go swimming. Julianne insisted on wearing what she is wearing and I didn't fight it cause I thought it was so cute. She has quite the fashion sense don't ya think?
