Apparently I'm young again!

Whew!  I was worried for a little bit.  In our church, we have an amazing youth program and I am asked to serve with the 14-15 year old girls in a class called the Miamaids.  I love it, and highly recommend it.  Or at least I highly recommend my Miamaids.  They are phenomenal.  Yesterday one of these said Miamaids and I went on a bike ride down the mountain to the local gas station for an ice cream treat.  While I was waiting for her to find her shoes, the grandfather asked if I was excited for school to get out for the summer.  Wait?!?  He thought I was his daughter's age and still in school.  Wahoo!!  I wanted to kiss him right there and walk away knowing that I am still young.  Instead, I smiled and said that I was one of the leaders.  He commented how the leaders keep getting younger every year.  What a sweet man.

Speaking of age and my Miamaids...we watched a movie over at my house on Wednesday night for our activity.  It was the end of school, no more finals, and the beginning of summer.  We decided to watch 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' with Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt.  Granted this movie was made in 1985, so we laughed during the WHOLE movie.  I highly recommend watching this movie and if you happen to have six 14-15 year olds around it will be even better. One of my girls even commented how 'I wear some of those clothes today.'   True, fashion recycles.

Apparently I am old!

Image
Did you know what this device was called before reading the name at the bottom of the device?  If you do, apparently you are not that young anymore.  Yesterday I was reading over a camp packing list for our church's girls' camp and a cassette player was listed as one of the items prohibited.  Of course, this followed iPod, Zune, and every other MP3 player.  One of my 15 year olds looked over at me, and very innocently asked 'What's a cassette player?'  It took me several moments to answer for my aging brain was trying to form the description into words.  Apparently I am no longer the young generation and technology of my time is already being forgotten.  Dang it!
