Walking to the Park

Peachtree City is known for their 90+ miles of multi-use paths all over the city. It is the golf cart capital of the nation for a greener, healthier initiative to decrease car from the road. So far we have walked to the playground, to lunch, the grocery store, the doctor's office, church, the library, and to another park complex. We are so grateful we found this house with an amazing location. Here are some shots of the path as we walked to the playground.

Sometimes the path runs along the back of houses and around the lake.

Sometimes the path runs in between the lake and the road.

Sometimes the path crosses over this gorgeous lake.

And sometimes you have to walk side-by-side your brother on the path to keep him company.

Gavin is always quick to make new friends at the playground.

I know the city had to fence the playground because it was next to water but I think all playgrounds should be fenced now. It is such a peace of mind. Plus you can feed the geese without getting hurt!

Logan prefers fowl watching quite often.

There is one water shower feature at the park for hot days like this past Friday.

All cooled off and ready for more fun!

We're Bringing Sexy Back

We arrived Thursday, looked for a rental home Friday, moved in Saturday, rested Sunday, and then Sean started work on Monday. It was a crazy but exciting fast five days.

We ended up moving into a house that 'pleasantly surprised' us on the inside. We were not thrilled about the idea of a split level but the price was under budget and the location was beyond ideal. As soon as we walked in, we envisioned our little family home. The kitchen was in great shape (and with a gas stove too) and the home had more space than we knew what to do with.

Sean said the house was far from sexy on the outside but that we could bring sexy back.

Papa's Garden

When the kids and I stayed with my dad back in March, we helped my father plant the seeds to his garden. Green beans, tomatoes, green peppers, and lettuce. Over the last few months, we have been excited to watch the growth and devour the deliciousness. Nothing beats the taste of a homegrown tomato.

Logan was once taller than the vegetables.

Gavin loved running (shocker!) up and down the planted rows.

My babe is still sporting just six teeth; four on top and two on the bottom.

And one more ride around the yard for good fun!

Saying Goodbye to Gainesville

Image
Our last visit on campus taken by our good friend Chuck after one last slice of Leonardo's pizza.

At the end of May, our apartment lease ended and thus our stay in Gainesville. We made the very short move over to my father's in Jacksonville to buy us needed time in the area as some job interviews were still lined up. It ended up being a wise move on our part for not two weeks later we had an offer letter in neighboring Georgia. However on the final day of cleaning and checkout, we quickly captured a few shots of our life at Cobblestone Apartment M87. We loved living in Gainesville this past year and were so grateful for all of our friends who made living there so much fun.

The Traveling Journals

Image
I saw the idea of a 'traveling journal' kicking around the blog world last week which reminded me how I have been meaning to post my thoughts on the subject for sometime.

Over two years ago, my best friends and I started our own traveling journal. We simply write about our daily experiences of marriage and motherhood. We write about our frustrations, our joys, our sorrows, and our blessings. We write about everyday life and what fills our thoughts.

It's like Christmas morning every time I find the journal in my mailbox. I immediately rip open the package and pick-up reading where I last wrote; for the journal goes from me to Kristen in Washington to Tanya in California then comes full circle to me again. My life is on pause until I am caught-up, and depending on how much the girls write while it's away could be a day or two.

Every time I read their passages I am comforted to know that every young wife and mother experience the same basic trials of patience, endurance, and love. We bond through these journals despite the thousands of miles between us. And although we cannot be there for each other every day, we get a glimpse of what their 'everyday' feels like. I am grateful for these ladies and the journals we share together. The only tough part of the equation is deciding who gets to keep what.

Just before we moved from Florida, I mailed the latest journal to the very, opposite corner of the country. I will not see it for many, many more months and yet I am already waiting for it's return. Friendships truly are a beautiful thing.

Father's Day

We have been without internet and will be for a few more days, but look for lots of updates to come. Until then I wanted to give a shout out to all the superb men in my life. I am blessed with an awesome father who has supported, taught, and valued me my whole life. I am blessed with a remarkable husband who is patient, rational, and loving. I am blessed with a great father-in-law who is hard working, giving, and loyal. And finally I am blessed with such a fun brother-in-law who has always been there when I needed him and the greatest uncle to my boys.  Thank you all for being fine examples of what a great man should be.  Happy Father's Day!
