Harrison, GA: Farm Field Trip

Last week Gavin's preschool took a field trip to the farm and I happily got to tag along for the morning. The kids were just buzzing with excitement in the days leading up to the field trip.

Here are the best of buddies, Gavin and Devin.  Whenever given the chance, they are together.  It is fun to watch these boys play together.  In fact, we love to have Devin over at the house since he keeps Gavin so entertained that I can get housework done.

Pony rides!  Laney is the sweetheart in the pink jacket and hat below and plays at the library park with us some Wednesdays.  I think she is just about the cutest thing ever.  Do you also see Gavin's facial expressions while riding his pony?  He talked with the instructor the whole ride asking her questions about the pony and what he does all day.  What a kid!

Here we are on the hayride!  There is some wicked sun flare in our mother-son shot but I still love it mainly for Gavin's sweet face.

Devin is not only in Gavin's school class but also Gavin's church class, so they are buddies through and through.

Time to feed the goats!

At the end, Gavin surrendered to feeding the animals from his hand and just offered the goat his cup.

We all had a great time and I just loved spending the morning with Gavin and his class.

Mother-Son Date Knight

Tonight Gavin and I went on a date to our nearest Chick-fil-A for their Mother-Son Date Knight.  It was so fun dining alone with my oldest.  He will be four next month and I just love the young boy he is growing up to be.  He waved to everyone on the path as we traveled to eat, made me stop to pick up other's trash they left behind, and opened the door for me like a gentleman (after some encouragement).  What a stud!

Chick-fil-A had decorated the place in true medieval fashion and Gavin loved it.  Upon entering, Gavin was crowned a knight for the evening by the infamous cow.

Gavin and I sat at our reserved table which even had a tablecloth.  Our dinner was then brought to us while we colored a shield and played medieval games.  There was a balloon master walking around creating sword balloons for all the boys too.  Gavin was bouncing off the walls with excitement.

Overall, our date was quick and cheap but highly enjoyable.

And as we were pulling into the driveway, Gavin asked if he could date me some more.

Papa, Papa!

My father just came to visit for the weekend and the boys loved having him here.  Every time Papa would leave Logan's sight, this video captured what would normally happen.  In the video, we were at the grocery store when my father took Gavin with him around the corner.  Love this boy's sweetness!

Fairburn, GA: Georgia Renaissance Festival

Last Saturday, Sean and I took the boys to the Georgia Renaissance Festival.  Funny thing but Sean was the only member of our family who had not been a festival yet.  We enjoyed several shows throughout the day including the jousting tournament.  We sat basking in the sun during the show while enjoying two chocolate covered, frozen bananas that I spent 20 minutes searching the whole festival grounds.  I really wanted one after I saw a girl eating one at lunch.

Here is my favorite shot of the whole day.  I could kiss this face all day.

We had a great time people watching and eating giant turkey legs.
Image
We taste-tested the macaroni and cheese on a stick item to which I even slightly enjoyed.
Image
We picked one family attraction to attend and ended up experiencing the maze together.
Image
The festival even had a petting zoo where I got to hold a baby chick.  The boys loved that little chick.

I shalt think we need to go next year, when opening weekend is buy one get one free again.

IKEA Meatballs

After a recent trip into the city, IKEA Meatballs have made a triumphant return in the Miner house.  While living in Utah, we used to eat these by the bag and there were just two of us then!
Image

Gavin now pleads for spaghetti and meatballs every night.  That was on the dinner menu tonight and both boys gobble all their meatballs right up!

Patiently Waiting

Somewhere in between all the woes of raising children you witness moments where all your hard work pays off.  I love those days.

Views While Running

I long for Tuesday and Thursday mornings when I get to run while pushing Logan.  It is just Logan and I and the open golf cart path.  To make sitting in a jogger fun, I ask Logan when we come to fork which direction he wants to go.  This also makes the run interesting for me since I do not develop a set route.  One morning Logan directed us past this view below.  I had to stop and take a picture of the beauty.  Then I pondered it for the remaining run.  It is such a gorgeous place to be active.

And certainly running is easy when this handsome face is looking back at you!

These two really are so sweet together.

Peachtree City, GA: Easter Fun

My Easter 2012 pictures are really scarce, however I did manage to snap some pictures at our church's awesome Easter Egg Hunt.  It was actually a cool morning, hence the sweatshirts.  We had a great morning with friends, brunch, and finding some eggs.  Hope everyone had a beautiful holiday!

Park and Library Wednesdays

I have noticed that little ones thrive on routines and schedules, or at least my little ones do.  So sandwiched between preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we now have Park and Library Wednesdays.  Gavin heads for the computers at the library automatically, while Logan almost immediately finds the stack of puzzles.  This past Wednesday, however, Logan mixed things up and tried his luck at the computers.  He lasted long enough for me to snap a picture then surrendered to his favorite puzzles.  But we just love how serious Logan is staring at the screen in the picture below.

Compliments of Instagram.

Running Again!

Now that Spring Break is over, my bubonic plague episode appears to be over, and our normal schedules return, Logan and I get to resume our runs.  It sure is easy to run with this cute babe looking back at me.

The Latest from Our Neck of the Woods

The day after Gavin's surgery he was back to his usual, full-of-energy self.  Kids are so resilient, I tell you.  On the other hand, I came down with a stress cold that refuses to go away.  We have called it the bubonic plague since even Sean has commented that I have never been so down.  I finally went for a run with morning and felt great for the first time in two weeks.

The first weekend in April we celebrated General Conference within our church.  It was church wide thus broadcasted and streamed through the internet from Salt Lake City, Utah.  There was a special spirit in our home while conference was on and we were amazed at how much our boys respected the speakers, songs, and prayers.

Image

Logan continues to grow strong and healthy into our big boy even when he sleeps.  Sean and the boys made a birdhouse together and painted the entire house.  I was shocked to hear the boys had so much patience.  And finally, we have had three weekends of birthday parties in a row.  It has been a real treat to celebrate with so many friends.  Gavin's birthday is at the end of May, so after each party he informs us of the revised plans for his party.  I love the boys' faces covered in blue frosting.

Chalk It Up To Fun!

We were gifted some chalk recently that the boys have fallen in love with.  We spent the better part of Monday afternoon outside with this colorful media.  We drew sharks and monsters and then practiced becoming them as they rise up from the ground.
Image

My sweet, handsome hunk fancied drawing on the garage door and not so much on the driveway.
Image

And finally I originally just drew Logan on the right and at the request of Gavin I drew him as well.  However, the request was very specific: please draw Gavin on the left since he was born first, a little bigger since he is the big brother, and holding Logan's hand since they are best friends.
