Amref International University (AMIU) is an accredited institution of higher learning focused on training in health sciences and is fully owned by Amref Health Africa. AMIU is founded on the experience and intellect of Amref Health Africa, which is reputed with over 65 years of quality and innovative public and community health interventions, training and education. AMIU has nurtured leaders and shaped the future of public health practice in Africa for over 40 years under its predecessor Amref International Training Centre (AITC). We lead the way in health sciences education with a breadth of programmes.

The 2nd Primary Health Care Congress
Amid rising global challenges, pandemics, climate change, economic disruptions, conflicts, and growing health inequalities, Primary Health Care (PHC) has shifted from being a fundamental pillar to an essential lifeline for health systems. Africa is currently at a crucial turning point. To achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC), PHC must be urgently re-envisioned and strengthened to become more resilient, inclusive, digitally driven, forward-looking, and deeply rooted in communities. The time for delay has passed; bold and decisive action is required.
