What is AntiMicro?

AntiMicro or AntiMicroX is an application used to map gamepad buttons to keyboard keys, macros, and scripts. Both are basically the same and perform the tasks by mapping the keyboard keys and mouse actions to your controller.

AntiMicroX is a free program tool that allows you to sit comfortably on your couch and play games and manage programs with your controller. You no longer need a keyboard or mouse to play games.

The main reason why you should use AntiMicroX is that it gets the updates and bug fixes, supports modern controllers, and has better compatibility with systems such as Linux, Windows, or macOS. It also has a new and improved user interface.

Anti-Micro was the original program but it stopped getting updates in 2016 because the developer abandoned it. That’s when AntiMicroX was born, which gets all the updates and is still managed.

How to Download and Install AntiMicro?

AntiMicroX For Windows:

    Go to AntiMicroX’s website and click on the download button

    If you want the Windows version, you need to download the .exe version and once downloaded, look for this: antimicrox-X.X.X-AMD64.exe in your Downloads folder (xxx is the version number)

    Double click on the file and run the program

    Now follow the instructions on your screen, such as accepting the terms and conditions, etc.

    After accepting all the terms and licences, your AntiMicroX will be opened.

For Linux AppImage:

    Download the AppImage file

    Open the terminal

    Go to the folder where you’ve saved the file, eg, /Downloads

    Give the permission to run: chmod +x antimicrox-*.AppImage

    Run the tool by double clicking or using the terminal: ./antimicrox-*.AppImage

Linux Debian/Ubuntu:

    Download the .deb package

    You can use the apt package manager to install it easily

    Now open the terminal

    If the file is not in your downloads folder, make sure you adjust the path and use this command: sudo apt install ~/Downloads/antimicrox-*.deb

    Enter your user password if asked

    The apt command will automatically install AntiMicroX and resolve any issues.

For Linux Flatpak:

    You can directly download it via Flathub using the terminal or

    If you already have Flatpak on your system, open the terminal

    Run the command: flatpak install flathub io.github.antimicrox.antimicrox

    Type y (Yes) to confirm the installation if asked
Note: Flatpak may not work properly with Wayland.

For Linux Fedora:

    The package is already in Fedora’s repositories, so you don’t have to download it directly

    Use dnf package manager with sudo: sudo dnf install antimicrox

    Enter your password and confirm installation

Linux openSUSE:

    Open your terminal

    Run the following command: trizen -S antimicrox

    Trizen will manage all the issues such as downloading, installing, building a package, etc.

How To Launch AntiMicro?

Make sure the controller is connected to the PC via Bluetooth or a wired connection.

For Windows: Find the AntiMicroX icon in the Start menu and double click to run it.

Click on AntiMicroX

For Linux Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Arch: Open the application menu or search bar and click on the AntiMicroX icon OR open the terminal and type: antimicrox

Linux Flatpak: Find the AntiMicroX icon in the application menu or use the command in the terminal: flatpak run io.github.antimicrox.antimicrox

Linux AppImage: Double click the downloaded AppImage file or use the terminal from the location: ./antimicrox-*.AppImage

After this:

    AntiMicro Admin Run

    Click on a controller input and select the corresponding key, and map it

    Open any game you want to play

    The controller inputs will be translated into mapped keyboard commands

Use Any PC With a Controller:

The main purpose of AntiMicroX is to map keyboard and mouse commands to your controller like Xbox or PlayStation. It helps your PC connect to controllers even if they don’t support it. You can sit on your couch and play games without using a heavy keyboard or mouse.

One Button For All:

One button can help you open programs and manage them, or simply launch a separate program. It becomes easy to manage while multitasking, such as selecting W can help you reload the weapon, and the same button can help you pick an item. Less buttons more actions.

Analog Control:

With Analog Control you can control the sticks and measure how far you can push. AntiMicroX uses this to control the speed.

Different Profiles:

With AntiMicro you can easily set up different profiles for various games. It can detect the game you’re playing and load the specific profile for the same.

SDL2 Configuration:

AntiMicroX improves the compatibility with applications and tools that run on SDL2.

Hold & Release:

Different actions based on how long the button is pressed and released. For example, if you hold the button for a specific time it can activate “aim” or “run” mode. Once the button is released, the action takes place.

Mouse Speed:

Controller buttons will be mapped to imitate the speed of the mouse in up/down adjustment.

Perfect Aim:

If you aim with an analog stick, you can trigger instantly and slow down the aiming speed to make a precision aim without changing controls.
