AntiMicro / AntiMicroX Guide
AntiMicroX, formerly known as AntiMicro, is a tool that helps you connect your PC to a controller and ditch the keyboard and mouse. You can easily play games, browse the internet, or just control things with the help of a controller. But sometimes it may be a pain to connect it to your computer.
If you’re new to this and want a proper yet easy guide then here it is. Today, we’ll explain in detail how to launch and set up AntiMicro/AntiMicroX.
How to Use AntiMicro / AntiMicroX
If you have successfully downloaded AntiMicro you might be wondering what to do now with all the buttons and actions. To make it simple for you, here’s a step by step guide:
Step 1: Launch
- Run the AntiMicroX application from your desktop.
- Make sure you have your controller connected to the PC via Bluetooth or a wired connection.
Step 2: Create Profile
- You can see a drop-down menu above, and from there select NEW.
- Now, create a new profile in the mapping tab. Here you can save a custom configuration.
Step 3: Mapping
- Click on the button you want to map on your controller.
- Assign a new keyboard key to the selected controller button by clicking on the corresponding box of the keyboard shortcut section. For example, X denotes Backspace.
- Repeat the process for every button you want to map.
Step 4: Save Profile
- After you have done mapping the controller buttons, save the profile.
- Click on the Save button.
- Save the file to your preferred folder.
- Similarly, by adding new profiles you can create multiple profiles for different games or applications. By clicking the drop down menu you can see the option to add NEW.
Step 5: Test Run
- After adding all the profiles you need to go to the drop down menu and select the profile you want to activate.
- Launch the game or application for which you had set the settings.
- Test the controller by pressing the buttons to see if the mapping is done correctly or if the buttons are performing the desired actions.
Step 6: Advanced Settings
- If there’s any issue you can go to the Options Menu, open Settings, and edit the configurations.
- You can also fine-tune mappings by adjusting settings such as sensitivity or dead zones. Other options are also available in AntiMicroX.
- Work with different buttons or experiment with different configurations to see what works best for you.
- This method of installing and using AntiMicroX can be applied to other controllers such as PlayStation5 Dual Sense, PlayStation4, and Nintendo Pro Controller as well.
How To Set Up AntiMicroX on an Xbox Wireless Controller? Tips & Tricks
If your games do not support gamepads like old shooter games or RPGs and require mouse and keyboard inputs then this method can solve that issue.
Step 1: Disable Other Tools
- Go to Steam’s Big Picture Mode because this is the easiest way to access controller settings.
- In Controller Settings, all configuration supports such as PlayStation, Xbox, etc, are shown turned off which proves that only a keyboard is required but AntiMicroX will detect it.
Step 2: Launch AntiMicroX
- Once you run AntiMicroX it’ll detect the issue and will be activated and even if more than one controller is connected it’ll show separate tabs.
- Now, follow the steps mentioned above and map the controller buttons.
Step 3: Binding
- To bind the D-pad, you need to press Up on the D-Pad and press the Up arrow on the keyboard shown.
- Repeat the process for left, right, and down.
- Now, to bind face buttons bind the back and start buttons to the backspace keys on the keyboard.
- Similarly, bind the other buttons like Y and A to their corresponding keys.
Step 4: Save the Profile
- Save the profile for easy future access.
- While saving it to your folder make sure the file is saved as .amgp extension (AntiMicro Game Profile) to properly load the software.
- You need to minimize AntiMicroX while playing the game but don’t close it.
If you have the older version of AntiMicroX which is AntiMicro you need to uninstall that. You also need to run the portable version as an administrator for a smooth experience. If you’re using the portable version you need to save the profiles to the Profiles subdirectory only then will the .amgp profile be loaded.
Final Thoughts
Using AntiMicroX is not that difficult as it has a learning curve, but once you have saved all the profiles it’s done. AntiMicroX needs no other tool to detect what the game requires and it works that way.
For people who love to play old school games or just want to run a few applications with the help of their controller, you can simply set up the controller in a way that you can easily access the web browser or you can set multiple profiles for each task for example, a separate profile for applications and another for games.
