Question on configuration...

I'm having a devil of a time with remotely linking to graphics files.  It seems I can only link to them by using my IP address, instead of being able to use the address for the virtual hosts.  What is the workaround for this?

Alos, would someone please assist me in getting my configuration ironed out so that the virtual hosts recognize the particular address requested, instead of always calling up the default?  I'm running Apache 1.3 on a WinMe system (yeah, it's an 'experimental' platform, I know).  I've racked my brain trying to get this thing running 100%...to no avail.
