On Tuesday, April 2 after preschool we went to the park to play with some friends from church. Lately we have been going to the same park a couple times a week, so this was nothing out of the ordinary.
Jordan and one of his friends were taking turns hanging from this ladder and dropping down. (I took this picture when we had our Easter Egg Hunt at the park the week before.) I am pretty sure he fell down sooner than he meant to and fell onto his tummy. He went to catch himself by putting his hand out, and snap, it broke! I was sitting on the grass with Alia and the other moms and heard Jordan whining a little. Usually I would tell him to come to me or that he was ok since he was only slightly whining, but this time I felt I should go see what was going on. Since he wasn't really crying, I did not expect to see what I saw, his arm was bent!!!
I am so not good with this kind of stuff, so at first I screamed. Then I reminded myself that I needed to stay calm so he would stay calm. I took a few breaths so I could calm myself. I honesty don't remember what happened for sure, but I am pretty sure my friend, Kim, picked him up and carried him back to the other moms.
Silly me starts packing up all our stuff and told the other moms that I can just take both kids to the ER with me by myself! Now I laugh at myself, how could I have possibly have done that! I have to thank all of them for keeping their cool and helping me figure out the best thing to do, so I could just go along with what they had decided. I was in no condition to make decisions.
I hurried and called Josh so he could meet me at the hospital, then I left Alia and my car at the park and Kim drove Jordan and me to the ER. Thanks Kim for being so calm and taking care of both Jordan and me!!! And thanks Atrena for taking care of Alia!!! Luckily Josh walking into the ER waiting room right when they called Jordan back.

So this is what his little armed looked like, its a bit much for me to take in that's why I left the picture small! When I called Josh, he was driving around, so he called his secretary and said that he would be out for a few hours since Jordan was in the ER. All I said on the phone was Jordan broke his arm at the park and which hospital we were going to, I didn't mention that I knew for sure his arm what broken. He thought I was being overprotective, and just taking him the the ER cause his arm hurt! He thought he would be going back to work in a few hours!
After they took his x-ray they put him in a bed, and he went right to sleep for about an hour.
When he woke up he was disappointed cause his arm wasn't fixed yet, so we turned on some cartoons to help keep his mind off it.
They wanted to sedate him to set his arm, but he had eaten right before he broke it so we had to wait until his tummy was empty to do anything. We got to the ER about 1 and they said the earliest they could do it was 4:30, but of course since its the ER it was almost 6 by the time they got everyone there that they needed for the procedure. We just kept his arm covered so we could all try not to think about what it looked like, it still makes my tummy turn to think about!
They didn't give him any pain medicine until after 3, so I was preparing myself for him to start crying cause it hurt so bad. He never did! He was so brave! He never once said that it hurt, and he even did an awesome job when they put his IV in. Good thing the nurse stood in front of me when she did the IV, cause I was the one that got a little emotional. I am so glad he did so well, cause if he would have cried I would have been a mess! He did way better than I did while we were there, and he was the one that was hurt!
They had us leave the room, then sedated him and fixed him all up. He had no idea he even went to sleep!
We had to stay for about 2 more hours after he was all done, so they could observe him. This was the only time he cried a little, but it was only because he was so ready to go home. We finally left the ER about 8:30.
He even got a teddy bear for being so good, Alia got one too!
Now comes the tricky part, trying to figure out how to do things with his left hand. He's doing pretty well trying to adapt, he only get frustrated a little.
Now we are just waiting for all the insurance stuff to go through so we can get his cast on.
He is doing really well with it all, and is as happy as ever!
