First 5K of the Year!

Since moving back to Utah, getting married, starting a new life, blaah blaah blaah, I have not kept up with my running like I have wanted to.  One word, PATHETIC!  But focusing on being a new wife has been worth it.
Matt and I have been preparing for a race in April, but I decided to join my family in doing one for Valentine's Day race in Bountiful.  It was so much fun running and having Matt there at the end waiting for me was a great feeling. I ran it with some of my fav. girls, my Sis, Sis in law, and future Sis in law.  We also ran into some old friends Brian and Erin Redd!
However, the way I felt while running and how long it took me made me realize I need to "huncker" down and get serious so I can be ready for our BIG race, the  Teton Damn Half Marathon!

Since I have wanted to focus my blog more on "good eats"  I gotta throw something in this one as well.
Last night I made Fajita Pitas.
I roast red and green peppers.  Grill Onions.  Cut turkey sausage (The ones that come in those oval tubes)  Cut into coins.  Add all of those ingredients together.  Stuff in a pita and top with mozzarella a cheese and light sour cream.  Healthy and Yummy!

Frosting that will make your mouth sparkle

Last week I was in Denver. I attempted to bake some cupcakes and then make some frosting for them.  Cupcakes came out raw, and then the frosting.....Oh let's just say it was disgusting!  I wanted to make frosting like my Grandma (She used Crisco)  The stupid stuff tasted like gritty powdered sugar.  My niece Abbey said she hated the taste of the ps in the frosting, so I thought to myself...there is obviously frosting you can make with no powdered sugar.  Tami, I think if you were here I would have redeemed myself with the cupcakes I made with this frosting!

Abbey and Tami, this one is for you!

1 cup sugar
1 package cream cheese ( I actually used the 1/3 fat kind)
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Beat together.

in separate bowl beat 1 pint whipping cream until peaks form

fold in whipping cream with cream cheese mixture.

Just don't taste it before you frost your cupcakes because you may just have unfrosted cupcakes!

Want a good burger?

I have to say it....Tony Burger!  Holy Moly, this place is so good!  Take the Centerville exit and head eat towards Target.  You will then find the mouth watering, delicious, yumminess of the Tony Burger!
You know when your Dad or husband decide to cook a good burger on the grill?  Well, right now it is winter and too cold to be outside to do your own, so hit up this place. It tastes just like hamburger the men cook on the grill.  My husband is a very picky meat guy....I mean the guy knows his meats!  (Meat cutter at Macey's back in the day!) So he knows a good hamburger when he tastes it.....and.....I won his heart over even more when I took him to this place!
Want a suggestion?.....top it with Tony Sauce and grilled onions...Your mouth will thank you! (and grilled onions still allow you to have a kissable mouth!)
Let's talk about those fries........   Whatever they do to them I don't know but they are GOOD! And you can't live in UT without having some good ole fry sauce. Not only do they have fry sauce but they have TWO kinds!  Regular and Hickory. I suggest the Hickory!

So go!!!

If you are not a hamburger kinda guy or gal, they have a menu opposite of the burgers that consist of some yummy salads.  I have tried the lettuce wedge and it was worth it!
So if you are going for the unhealthy fries, or eating healthy, it will please both taste buds.
Even when you are eating healthy, the hamburger seems to be pretty lean as well.

You also have to go in and see who gets to eat for free!

So there is my pick for this post.

Matt and I are eating pretty healthy these days getting ready for Matt's first 5k and our 1/2 Marathon this summer, but a guy needs to have a good hamburger once in a while.  We try and pick a new place each time we go out!

54th and 9th

On 5400 South and 900 East, you will find the yummiest item called the "pizza bender"  These half folded pizza (minus the sauce.....)  full of cheese and your choice of meats and veggies.  The best part is the sauce comes on the side, so you pick up your bender and dip it in this mouth watering, flavorful sauce!
My favorite is the cheese and sausage.....Yummy!
It is a great date night place...for 9 bucks you get the pizza bender, salad, drink and garlic bread.  More than enough to fill your tummy and a take home box.
Speaking of the salad......this is no ordinary salad...Your bowl comes with a heaping pile of lettuce with each piece lightly coated in your choice of dressing.
If you have not yet tried yourself a "Pizza Bender" from Italian Village....GO!!!

Been Busy Being Married!

So....My life took a good turn.  It was introduced to a new word.  Marriage.  SO happy.  So now my life is full of making breakfast before someone goes to work. Packing a lunch.  Ironing white shirts.  Making dinner for two.  Finding places to put all my stuff in our cute little condo.  Attending the temple together twice a month.  Always having a date on the weekend.  A running partner.  So many other things that would take me all day to write.

My wedding Day was perfect.  Thank you for everyone that made it so special.  It was such an amazing day other than it being a little cold.  I loved having my family and friends part of the day as well.
