Man, this was probably my favourite episode of all!  Soooooo much good shit, punctuated by some excellent anecdotes and general tomfoolery.

As Radio Ginger came to a much lamented end this week, it appears that one episode has been lost in radio purgatory.  Episode 9 aired on the 30th November, and then was erroneously repeated the following week.  Subsequently, episode 10 was broadcast a week late, on the 14th December, and then the finale followed on the 18th.  Now, Ginger mentions in episode 10 that there are two more episodes to go, and only one of these (the finale) has surfaced.  So by my reckoning, there's still an unaired episode floating around somewhere.

Anyway, here's episode ten.  Ginger's on his own for this one, apart from the disembodied voice of Medium Sized Tim twiddling the knobs.  With no Rich Jones present to reign him in, Ginger unleashes upon us, among other things, a terrifying array of cheesy pop music.  On a metal radio station.  Punk rock, baby!

This week's big surprises were the Roger Taylor solo offering, the post-hair metal Enuff Z'nuff track, and the uncanny Muse/Gaye mash-up.  The Richard Thompson song was pretty cool; it reminded me that Paul's friend lent us a bunch of his CDs, and I really need to give them a listen.  It was also interesting to here that Dada is Ginger's favourite Alice Cooper album.

Episode 9 of Radio Ginger was originally broadcast way back on 30th November.  Unfortunately, that afternoon I was distracted by the small children that were running rings around me, and I failed to hit the record button until halfway through the show.  "Never mind," I thought, "I'll just record the Sunday night repeat."  BUT!  TotalRock Radio have taken the ill-advised move to rebrand themselves as BloodStock Radio, and since then their schedule has been in somewhat of a kerfuffle.  So there was no repeat on Sunday night!  I was devastated by this failure, but as luck would have it the show was repeated again on 7th December.  There was supposed to be a new episode that day, so lord knows what happened to that.  Episode 9's a real cracker, so I'm very glad to have managed to catch it in its entirety at last.

Christ, Test Icicles!  I'd forgotten about them.  Wayne Kramer's solo record sounded killer.  Also, it was good to hear some NoMeansNo, I've been listening to them a lot recently.

This was actually first broadcast live on the 12th of November, and then repeated in the normal Friday afternoon slot.  Special guest is Jeff Angell, of the bands Walking Papers and Post Stardom Depression (I just youtubed Post Stardom Depression and... hot diggity damn!  He's one heck of a frontman.).

By the way, when I recorded this on Monday, the sound kept cutting out in the second half, so I re-recorded the second hour on Friday, and spliced them, and I apologise if there are any volume level changes.

It was a nice treat to hear some Masters of Reality, an old favourite of mine.  Oh, and Trucker Diablo and The Makers both sound very promising indeed, I really must invest in their albums.

Ginger and Rich did a live show this afternoon, and I recorded it, but my internet kept cutting out, and so there are chunks of audio missing.  However, I believe that this is the show that they're going to broadcast on Friday, so hopefully I'll be able to re-record it without my internet being all lame-ass.

In case anyone's wondering, last week Total Rock played a repeat of episode one of Radio Ginger.  Episode 5 was the first live one in quite a while, since they had to pre-record all the shows that aired during the Slash tour.

Here's the third episode of Ginger Wildheart's radio show.  Obviously we were out on Friday, when the show is aired, but I made the discovery that you can set Audacity to record at a certain time of day, and for any given length of time.  High fives for technology!

When we got home from Friday's gig, I listened back to the show, and I was thinking "What the heck is this song?  Dad played this all the time when I was a kid!"  I was sure it was Clannad, but the Shazam app informed me that it was in fact Arrival by Abba.  Yep, Ginger actually went there.

Please note, there is a section of this show (when the Hawkeyes song is played) when there are two songs playing at once - that's not my error, that's technical difficulties at the radio station!

A few Wildhearts fans are having trouble listening to Ginger's new radio show on TotalRock, since it's from 4 til 6 on a Friday, and therefore many folks are at work or commuting.  So I volunteered to record the shows and upload them every week.  Of course, I urged everyone to listen to the show when it airs if they can, to ensure that listening figures are as high as possible!
