So, whether you are looking to acquire a detailed understanding of the practice of archaeology and excavation skills through hands-on experience and placements or engage critically with current themes and debates in archaeological practice, theory and method, we can help you.

You will receive research-led teaching from lecturers engaged in world-class research on projects from the Scottish islands, the UK and Ireland, to the Atlantic region and Polynesia, and have the opportunity to get involved in our excavations.

There is a strong emphasis on developing archaeological skills in a number of areas including:

  • Field archaeology (excavation and survey)
  • Environmental archaeology (zooarchaeology, archaeobotany and osteoarchaeology)
  • Digital archaeology (photogrammetry and archaeological illustration)
