Saturday Rec! Aragorn/Boromir
Boromir Grace
Imagearchet
So happy to have caught this beautiful fic over at AO3. A wonderful read if you enjoy hot Aragorn/Boromir...and it's hot in that way I want my A/B, beautiful unfolding passion underpinned by playfulness, joyfulness, and just a sweet sense of solace these two discover in one another, not just by their physical joining, but in spirit as well. Aragorn is the steady, unhurried one, not wanting to waste a moment of enjoying Boromir, of patiently, lovingly pulling the pleasure out of his lover, while Boromir, naturally is eager, willing to rush headlong into their joining. I loved their connection, the discoveries made in one another, the tenderness both emotional and physical. I found this Aragorn very compelling, depicted as a man bearing scars both physical and spiritually, not really fitting in with the world of Men, not completely with that of the Elves. Luscious and lovely and edged with that brilliant heat and a bit of melancholy.

Give of Myself by claquesous

Summary:"I have shocked you," Aragorn said, sounding faintly embarrassed. "I know it is not only Elfkind whose customs I offend."Aragorn extends his friendship, such as it is, to Boromir in Lothlórien.

Boromir -character study, thoughts, feels

I was introduced to LOTR by the movies, so I was movie fan first, and my visuals and feelings attached to those characters and places featured will probably always be affixed and informed by those of the movies. Sean Bean will always be my Boromir, I don't think that comes as a big surprise. And while I have yet to read the trilogy (I always start FOTR but never seem to finish it) I am fascinated by Tolkien's intensely intricate legendarium. I came across a comment recently regarding Boromir that called him a 'villain', and that set me to getting my thoughts in order on this character because I had to sound off on that wrong-headed comment, and, as luck would have it, I had just came across a site that so terrifically defined 'my' Boromir I just wanted to comment further on this because I've never seen certain things pointed out quite like this, specifically.

I have long admired Boromir, not just for his gorgeousness strength and skill, but also for that singular moment we all are familiar with: he'd fallen to the lure of the ring, but, got back up, faced his failure and fought on. For me, though, it goes deeper than just that, because if you've ever hit rock bottom, you know how impossible it can be to come back from that, but in that moment I don't think Boromir was even thinking in those terms. He was being who he was, a good man, a brave man, a fine man that, despite knowing the weight of his mistake, still had to do what was needed. He fought, and lost...but did he?

Ultimately, Boromir possessed the humility of spirit to face his mistake and atone for itCollapse )

Fangirl Friday - Sean Bean for Season 2 of Snowpiercer, first look
Boromir Grace

Nuuhhh....unfortunately not much fannish fun to report! Life these last 2-3 weeks have been 'meh' and 'nuh' and just 'f***k' in the most basic sense. Though a bit of gleeful fangirling over some stumbled upon Beany news, and my goodness doesn't he looks fabulous? Where has Bean in Velvet been all my life? Amirite?! I had actually started watching Snowpiercer in Season 1 and really liked Jennifer Connelly as Melanie (I've liked her since waaaay back in The Rocketeer) and was enjoying the murder mystery aspect and wondered how they were going to sustain this plot throughout a series, but after a few episodes I kinda lost track of the show and forgot about it. Needless to say, word of Bean in Season 2 has got me totally interested again.

For your viewing pleasure, because, Bean, velvet, and crisp white shirts rolled up forearms and paired with a vest is just....yeah.

velvet goodness

beany goodness

Addendum: that smile and that velvet jacket has gotta spawn some fanfic! ;)

FIC: The Letter
Boromir Grace
Imagearchet
It's one of those beautiful weather days, sunny and warm with just enough cool breeze to open the doors and windows and it weirdly feels almost like an early spring day rather than an early fall day. I set a goal for myself of writing something this weekend and this qualifies, though I cheated, just a little. This started as (one of MANY!) unfinished fragments sitting in my fic file, and so I shook it out, reworked it mostly and am calling it done. One of my very few (if not the only?!) 'unrequited' Aragorn/Boromir.

Title: The Letter
Pairing: Aragorn/Boromir (unrequited), Boromir/Faramir
Summary: A promise kept, a secret revealed and the love of a Son of Gondor shared.
Feedback: welcomed and appreciated
Crossposted: My LJ and A03

I can only hope you will forgive me, Aragorn said, and removing his gloves he reached inside the embroidered tunic he wore, withdrawing a folded square of parchment. I have kept this next to my heart for many leagues. I should have imparted it to you, long before now, but at last, I keep my promiseCollapse )

(revised) FIC: Aragorn/Boromir: A King's Promise

It's grey skies outside, and it's raining, and we're under a tornado watch compliments of hurricane Delta, and (almost) all the kitties are sleeping, and the lights are flickering for some unknown reason, so what better time than to get some fannish activities in? I've been (sloooowly) working on posting all my fic over at A03. Lately I've been taken with the need to have it all archived somewhere, if no for no one's enjoyment but my own. God forbid, if there's another incident like last year, at least I'll have it stored somewhere, gah! Anyway, in messing around with this I've realized two things: I wrote more VigBean fic than I remembered, and, I wrote like, a metric ton of drabbles...and I love my drabbles! Why aren't drabbles still a thing!? Anyway, most of the fic I'm moving over maybe slightly edited, but this one, while the form and function are exactly the same, is heavily revised, so I'm posting this revised version. The original still exists in my LJ post, but I like this version better.

Title: A King’s Promise
Pairing: Aragorn/Boromir
Summary: Aragorn visits his ailing Steward.
Disclaimer: These characters are not mine, I did not create them, I only made the ficlet.
Note: this story has been revised a fair bit from the original version, which was originally written for seleneheart’s birthday. This is an AU where Boromir did not die at Parth Galen - (is there any other kind?) - alas, Arwen gets no mention here.
Feedback: is welcomed and appreciated!
Aragorn thrust the cup at Boromir, who eyed the liquid contained within with a wary expression. “Drink this,” Aragorn said, preparing himself for the stubbornness he could already see gathering in the tensing line of Boromir’s jawCollapse )

FIC: Soldier Son, Aragorn/Boromir

Title: Soldier Son
Pairing: Aragorn/Boromir
Summary: in the starlit twilight Aragorn visits Boromir’s memorial for the first time.
Disclaimer: I did not create these characters, no infringement intended.

Note: this was supposed to only be a brief beat in another (boromir!lives) fic, but I got stuck on the idea of the people of Gondor wanting to honor Boromir that I indulged myself!

Or read Solider Son @ A03

Faramir had been the one to approve the monument, to know the details of its fashioning, Aragorn having laid his trust, and the burden, upon his StewardCollapse )

Taking my heart back to Middle Earth part 2
Boromir Grace
Imagearchet
Ah! I made it through all 3 movies last weekend, back to back, baby! Checked out the director’s commentary per the moment when Denethor hallucinates seeing Boromir in Minas Tirith and PJ Jackson was saying how awesome Sean was and goes on to talk about how they called the people that were lusting after Sean Bean the ‘beanstalker’s and that Philippa was their leader. Philippa giggles, denies it and says she showed ‘restraint’ and then giggles some more and wow, but that’s just gold, right there! If left up to Philippa I think we’d have gotten at least one Boromir stand alone movie! Ha!

Massive steam of consciousness goings on, convoluted meandering thoughts regarding the movies as follows so beware...also I'm sleepy so some of this may be kinda wacky, also,I have kind of a, let's call it a rather narrow focus on one Son of Gondor, so...yeah...Collapse )

Taking my heart back to Middle Earth
Boromir Grace

I pulled out my extended versions of the LOTR trilogy a while ago, and this weekend decided to just get over myself and watch them. It's an rather grey, overcast day, the leaves are falling again on the breeze outside the window and the temperature is almost cool enough to throw open the doors and windows, a welcome change! Feels like the perfect day for Middle Earth. Just now realizing that I never even opened ROTK, it's still in the plastic! So I've never seen actually seen the full extended version of ROTK; I only saw it in theaters. We'll see how it goes, but I've already teared up when Bilbo hugged Gandalf in the Shire (RIP dear, dear Mr. Holm) and we know it's only downhill from there!

Obviously, FOTR is visually so, so beautiful. I can feel the love that was poured into it; it has everything, the remarkable cast, the music, the exquisite detail. Rarely have I been so transported to another 'world' by a movie; seeing Return of the Jedi in the theater was when I was a kid was the most comparable.

And Sean Bean as Boromir is so, so gorgeous, it makes the heart ache. It's been said before, and better, but Boromir got such a raw deal, faced with impossible situation, impossible pressures.

And just because I only recently learned this: I've always noticed the feather-like design on Bormoir's vambraces and the clasps of his cloak but I didn't know that this is the (seabird) mark of the Númenor, and it appears in nearly all the uniforms of Gondor, and again in the winged crown Aragorn eventually wears. I wish I'd saved the link where this was mentioned but of course I can't find it now. Doh!

Sean Bean still give me a shiver when Boromir says: Gondor has no king, Gondor needs no king. Ah! I'll never finish this if I don't stop rewinding/re-watching all the Boromir parts, ha!

Fandom Friday Rec! LOTR AU: Legacy
Boromir Grace

When I say 'AU' I really mean, Aragorn is basically a vampire and Boromir is his favorite snack (and also Faramir's) there's no 'fellowship', Eomer and Eowyn are Denethor's kids, so yeah, it's wild. I think I found this fic originally via the Fellowship website. Back then I was on the Fellowship email mailing list (remember those?!) so this one has been around a while! It's got a lot going on but the thing that stuck with me most is Aragorn's absolute adoration of Boromir. It may not be for everyone so check out the warnings. It hasn't seemed to make the migration to A03 but it's still housed at Library of Moria and the Fellowship website. Check out the links below!

TITLE: LEGACY
AUTHOR: CARLA JANE
SUMMARY: An (extremely) alternate universe story that portrays the Stewards of Gondor as Gondor's royalty... and Aragorn is a magical being that is bound to the service of Gondor's royal house. There's no Fellowship and no quest in this story. Please look at the 'notes' for more information.
RATING: NC17 overall
PAIRINGS: Faramir/Boromir, Boromir/Denethor, Aragorn/Boromir, Eomer/Ewoyn
WARNING: Het Content, Non-con. This story contains incest, some of which is non-consensual, male/male sex, male/female sex, and sexual abuse.
