1:15 am - The good, and the bad
|
Well, supprisingly a lot of things have happened in the past couple days, well by a lot I mean more then normal in 2 days:
1. My dishwasher died, the joys of being a home owner. So instead of saving a lot over the applicance sales over the 4th I gotta go get a new one right after. Well its looking like an LG, Kitchenaid or kenmore elite, not sure which one yet.
2. Got a big raise today, 2nd since I moved to Austin. Its been really good working here and I am up for a merit review in 1 more month. This move is looking better and better, just gotta find a gf here now.

1:25 pm - V
|
|
I must say, V for Vendetta is prob the best movie I have seen in a long time. I kinda went into not knowing what to expect. It was a rainy day and we wanted to go to a movie (pretty much the only thing playing that looked appealing). I thought the story was very captivating and there was a good mix of action and plot. Overall a movie you must check out!

12:42 am - Brief post, looking for some ideas
|
|
So... christmas is coming and yeah I have been slacking on posting, but I wanted to write here because I need some input on what I should buy for others/what I should ask for. I need to put together a list... so far just some renewls to subcriptions, a book and a new mouse. I was thinking about asking for a new desk or some furniture... but thsoe seem a little high priced. But we will see! Hope everyone has been doing well.

1:30 am - Austin City Limits Music Fest!
|
Well, I had a great time with friends this weekend at the Austin City Limits music festival! www.acl.com
We saw so many different bands, I guess the only negatives were the heat (108 degrees on Sunday!!) and the dust (it has been really really dry the best few weeks here). Anyway, just can't wait to go again next year!

5:29 pm - Austin, texas - finally here
|
|
I am finally sorta settled down in Austin, right now living with a friend and looking for a place of my own (hopefully a house). Still a bit sick unfortunately from a cold I caught on the way down here, which has made the last week a lot less fun then it could have been. I am hoping to meet some new friends and stuff while down here, hopefully before I get too engaged in working all the time (which starts tomorrow). The area looks wonderful (except some of the traffic during the mornings/afternoons which is something I got unaccustomed to living in Vermont).

11:58 pm - Move in progress
|
|
Well, moving is always an adventure and still is. I am looking at all the stuff I have accumulated in the past 4 years and am amazed if it will all fit, I sure hope it will because I have already tossed and given away so much stuff! Lets hope Austin is the city I have been searching to move to for a while!

12:10 am - Moving to Austin, Texas
|
Well, I know I haven't been as good about updating this as I used to be, but hopefully after all the changes settle down I can get back to it.
I wanted to say I will be moving to Austin Texas at the end of July, and will be working for AMD. I really hope that this will be a better area for me to live in then Vermont and look forward to the change and the warmer weather!

11:59 am - Its been a while?
|
I guess i haven't posted much for a long time, but not really anything has been going on. Kinda boring I know! I hope this summer will be a bit more interesting, with a few trips to Montreal and NYC. My eyes seem to be getting less dry, which is a good sign. They seem too dry still compared to what i expected, but I hope in time that will get better.
Anyway, just not much to say right now.

3:05 pm - LASIK Update!
|
Well, it has been a while since I put anything in here about my LASIK, so I will tell everyone what the last couple weeks have been like:
Surgery Day: Went well, surgery was painless but eyes hurt a small amount for the next few hours. If I would have been able to sleep this wouldn't have been a problem, but for some reason I couldn't sleep
Day After Surgery: Got my eyes checked, I could see 20/20 in each eye although they were dryer then normal, so some plugs were put in to make sure they stayed moist
1 week after surgery: Eyes are still dry, and I still see 20/20 although my right eye is not as clear as my left. I still have some halos at night around certain lights and I hope these will go away in the next few months.
2 weeks after surgery: My eyes are a lot less dry! I can't wait to stop using eye drops in a month or so
3 weeks after surgery: I still have the halos, I am hoping they get better but I will have to wait and see. The dry eyes are getting better each day it seems so that should go away!

7:10 pm - LASIK! It is over, lets hope for the best
|
|
I just had my LASIK surgery about... 4 hours ago and so far things are looking good. I can see already almost as good as I could with contacts and I hope things will continue to improve. My eyes are a bit dry right now, but that is supposed to get better with time. I am just glad that tough part is over!

11:40 pm - A waiting room full of patents
|
Well, it looks like my first patent finally went through (it took the US patent office almost 2 years to process the damned thing).
Anyway, other then that I think I will go through with the Lasik assuming nothing funny happens tomorrow at the appointment. I just think it is something I have wanted to have done for a while, now it is time!
Also, it looks like I am definately going to San Diego following Christmas, so if anyone on here lives out there I am looking for things to do during the week!

12:12 am - Lasik, is it for me?
|
I have recently been considering getting Lasik and would like some opinions on it!
1. Do you know anyone including yourself that has had it done?
2. Would they or you recommend it?
3. If you know, what was your pupil size, laser, etc?
Thanks!

Finally, I am a proud owner of a laptop! I just got my kick ass dell 5160 in the mail, with 2.8 ghz P4, 64 meg video, 512 ram... about the only thing that I would like is a bigger hard drive, but I should be able to upgrade that in time!

9:25 pm - Indian Stories
|
There is this guy I work with whom is an Indian (idian from india, not from the US), and he has some incredable stories such as ones about how their people lost the written langauge by running away from Portoguese putting holy bread in their water to convert them to christians. Another good one is how the first Indian revolt agianst the British started after 150 years of peaceful occupation because they were given bullets with pigskin on them which they had to bite off.
I really think these stories need to go in a book, with some pictures of course!

|
|
Well, I just bought a new receiver! The first one I ever had... if any is actually intersted here is the link:
Harman Kardon 7.1 DPR 1001
I also bought some JBL S312 II and EC35 center channel along with some athena RS-1 surround speakers! This system should rule....
Other then that I am hoping to travel to San Diego this winter! I look forward to seeing Annie (a friend from college that lives there now).
