Orange Center, Bulgaria’s leading books and stationery retailer, faced a common challenge. Gifting wasn’t personal. It was a process. They wanted to help their customers experience the joy of giving, not the logistics of buying. They needed a unified space where loyalty felt inherent, data flowed into smarter conversations, and the physical and digital stores blurred into one interaction.

Our goal was to facilitate that evolution. We didn’t just build a mobile app. We engineered the fluidity Orange Center needed. Our collaborative vision was to go beyond connecting existing systems and expand them with smart gifting and personalization to deliver an uninterrupted mobile commerce experience. The work was about exploring, testing, and growing together until we crafted the smooth, inspired digital version they envisioned

Scalable Ecosystem: The architecture is built on robust, distributed cloud services, ready to evolve as Orange Gifts grows.
Hero Feature: Logged-in users can create a personal Profiles Database of friends and family, storing key details like birthdays, interests, and special occasions. That information powers the smart recommendations, so suggested gifts actually make sense. Users can also keep multiple wishlists or favorites, and use the Refer a Friend feature to grow the community.

Context

Orange already had a complex digital ecosystem: ERP, eCommerce, and a new CRM Loyalty system.

Integrating these different systems and accurately classifying a massive product catalog by age, gender, and interests was a task that required sophisticated, custom engineering, not a simple application build.

Our approach

Our approach was to design a system that unified gifting, loyalty, and personalization through intelligent technology, seamless integration, and agile delivery.

We built the Orange Gifts App, a cross-platform mobile MVP in Flutter, showcasing key competencies across several domains:

Systems Integration
Connectivity with ERP, eCommerce, and the Loyalty/CRM system is managed through a layered approach, utilizing dedicated Bulk Products Update APIs and Classification Cloud Functions built on Python and Google Cloud services.

Cross-Platform Development
One codebase in Flutter/Dart powering iOS and Android. Fast, scalable, and consistent.
3.
AI-Powered Personalisation
The core is an intelligent Gift Suggestion Engine. It uses a Zero-shot text and image classification model to automatically enrich product data with attributes like age, gender, and interests, saving hundreds of manual hours.
4.
Omnichannel Loyalty
The app integrates the Loyalty profile, generating a personalized Loyalty QR code for seamless rewards application and status checks in physical stores. It also features In-Store Availability to bridge the online-to-offline experience.
5.
Gamified Engagement
Challenges incentivize specific user behaviors (like profile completion and activating push notifications) to drive meaningful engagement and loyalty program uptake.
6.
Agile Delivery
We used disciplined two-week sprints with continuous client demos and implemented a clean architecture with clear separation of layers for stability and future growth.

Orange Gifts is now a fully integrated mobile commerce solution supporting both online and physical store experiences.

It connects loyalty, gifting, and personalization into one continuous customer journey, and the architecture is built for growth. As Orange expands, the application’s scalable ecosystem and cloud-based foundation allow new features and integrations to be added effortlessly, keeping pace with evolving customer needs.

The Orange Gifts app rose to popularity and straight into the nation’s top 20 shopping apps, surpassing giants like Zara, H&M, AliExpress, eMAG, and Decathlon.
