Confidential Counseling Program

Stress, anxiety, and depression don’t have to control your life. The Assist the Officer Foundation offers a confidential counseling program designed specifically to meet the unique challenges faced by first responders and their families.

ATO’s counseling services are available to first responders, their spouses, and their children, and may include individual counseling, family support, and couples therapy. Most importantly, all services are strictly confidential.

If you are a first responder or a member of a first responder’s family seeking support, help is just a phone call away. Simply contact one of the counselors listed below directly—no referrals, no paperwork, and no involvement from ATO. Just immediate, confidential support when you need it most.

A Police Officer's Prayer

Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well Dedication to my community To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern For others who trust me And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all Be at my side...

Financial Assistance (Injury / Illness)

If you’re a first responder and you suffer any type of catastrophic illness or injury (on- or off-duty), the Foundation has a program that may help you and your family cope with some of the financial hardship. Initial assistance may be provided to help with your situation. In the event of a serious injury or illness which prevents you from returning to work for more than thirty (30) consecutive days, additional assistance may be provided.

Dallas Officer / Reserve Death Benefit (On or Off-Duty)

In the event of the death of any active Dallas police officer or reserve officer, the ATO Foundation will make an immediate contribution to the officer’s family to help defray the unforeseen expenses associated with the death of a loved-one.

Note: This program is limited to officers and reserve officers of the Dallas Police Department.

Line of Duty Death Benefit

In the event of the line-of-duty death of an officer, reserve officer or fire fighter from an agency that borders the City of Dallas, assistance will be provided to the family to help defray some of the unforeseen expenses associated with the tragic death of a loved-one.
