How it started: The story behind AVES Reality
Our journey started with a team of visionary founders who believed in a more scalable way to reconstruct the real world in a 3D digital twin.
The idea for AVES Reality began to take shape when Severin, back then an intern at a major car manufacturer, explored how reinforcement learning could be applied to autonomous systems. He quickly realized that a main bottleneck wasn’t the machine learning algorithm itself — it was the lack of realistic, scalable virtual environments in which to train and test it. This insight sparked a discussion with Florian in early 2019 that would eventually lead to AVES Reality.
Founded in 2022 by Florian Albert, Severin Knebel and Matthias Heger, AVES Reality has grown into a tech company driven by a diverse, interdisciplinary team with backgrounds in AI, geoinformatics, software engineering, simulation technology, and entrepreneurship.
The initial goal which brought the three founders together still serves as our guiding vision today: Creating the market leading platform for automated 3D map generation to enable more efficient industrial simulation across industries.
