Projects
I am working on a few projects at the moment, namely:
1. The Islamic State Project
This is a personal project which I am engaging in. I believe in the idea of an Islamic State for Malaysia, and I am in a personal quest to see how could the Islamic State model be best implemented in my home country. As part of this project, I will be translating numerous literatures of Islamic politics, sociology as well as other related subjects. Some of the articles had been translated and is available to read in the ‘Idealism’ category.
2. Structural Geology project with Professor Richard Lisle
This project is part of the EA3008 Research Tutorial module, of which counts for 20 credit for my 3rd year MESci Exploration & Resource Geology assessment. We agreed to study and analyse the stresses which caused for shear movements on faults on bedding planes. The location of the study area is Barry Island, UK. I am expected to write a scientific paper, and if it is interesting enough, we might publish it in an appropriate journal. I am also expected to do a presentation on this research in the MESci Conference due April 2009.
3. Oil & Gas Exploration Geology project with Professor Joe Cartwright
The research question for this project is ‘Oil & Gas in the UK; filled or underfilled?’. This project is supervised by Cardiff University very own expert in seismic analysis, Professor Joe Cartwright. He has a long list of experience working with oil and gas-related organisations in numerous countries, including Brunei. I was given the opportunity to work on this project in mid-october. The project was devised by Joe to compensate my placement in Ukraine which was, work-wise, useless. I will be writing a short thesis on this project which is due this December.
