"We can’t predict all the struggles and storms in life, not even the ones just around the next corner, but as persons of faith and hope, we know beyond the shadow of any doubt that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and the best is yet to come." - L. Tom Perry

Christmas Pins

Who would have thought that my first post after over a year would be about a Walmart employee? I don't think anyone even follows my blog anymore, but I would feel ungrateful to not take the time and write down my thoughts. Today I went to Walmart to grab a few items, which always turns out to be way more than expected. I like to go through the self check out because it always seems faster and I don't have to talk with anyone. I know, not the best way to approach life, but just the same, there I was checking my own stuff out. About halfway through checking out the lady who watches over all the self checkouts comes over and starts watching me. She was an older lady. At first I was just thinking this was another annoying Walmart worker making sure I am not ripping anything off. Then she started to take things out of my bags and said, "Here, let me help you, I can't save you a lot, but every little bit matters". She proceeded to cancel about 6 of my items and enter the sale prices from other stores, saving me about $5 in the end. Then she brought over a small box with some handmade Christmas pins and asked if I would like one. I have to say, she made my day, she put a smile on my face, and made me feel happy; nothing like I normally feel when I leave Walmart. I felt blessed to have had the chance to meet her. I thanked her for all her help and for the sweet pins (she gave me two so that both my girls could have one). I feel like being a better person and what a great way to start out the Christmas season.

Back to School

Porter and Bryant started up school 3 weeks ago. They are already in the depth of homework, tests, papers, projects, etc. They are doing great. Porter is a junior this year and student body vice-president and Bryant is a sophomore and student body secretary. They have some pretty hard classes this year too, but awesome teachers!

Meagan and Heidi just started school today. Meagan is in 7th grade and on the student council for middle school. Heidi is a big 2nd grader. She may not have been elected to anything, but she will defiantly be her mark.

They are all out of the house and I am a bit lonely. I have plenty of projects and so many things to get done, but I will miss having them around. I am so proud of my kids, they are excellent students and always give their best. They are awesome.

San Diego

Image

We just came back from San Diego where we went to the wedding for Phil's niece Lauren. By the way, Lauren and her new hubby David, so cute!! It was nice to see family and get a chance to visit. On our trip I was informed, through an intervention type method, that I am very bad at the whole blog thing. It was hard to swallow, but I will step up my efforts, and try to update my blog sooner than once every two years. I'm setting my goal low to make sure that I am a winner!! While at the temple Porter was able to be ordained a Priest, inside the San Diego Temple, well, in the waiting room, but still pretty cool and will be a great memory for him. On our way back we stopped at the Mormon Battalion museum in San Diego. That was also a great experience. If you haven't had the chance to go there, it is well worth it, if you ever find yourself in San Diego. I don't want to push myself too much too fast, so I think this is good, I should stop here. Love to all our family!!!
