Govt. approved Rs 125-cr plan for drain projects in Delhi

Delhi Jal Board (DJB),
North Delhi, Delhi

Budget: ₹ 125 Cr.

Current Status: Under Implementation

To tackle the persistent waterlogging issue in North Delhi, the Public Works Department (PWD) had proposed a Rs 125 crore plan to remodel the storm water drainage system on three major stretches of Ring Road and Outer Ring Road, covering a total of 25 km. An official confirmed that the government has sanctioned funds for the project. The affected stretches connect key areas such as Central Delhi via Civil Lines, Kashmere Gate, ITO, and Outer Delhi. Currently, the poor drainage system leads to flooding on these stretches during the monsoon, which hampers traffic movement up to ITO. The remodeling work will follow the guidelines of the Delhi Drainage Master Plan 2025, aiming to resolve the waterlogging problem and improve traffic flow in the region.
