Christmas Star Challenge: a simple approach in Javascript

If you are into groups or pages whose topic is programming, in these days you have probably stumbled upon several Christmas Stars plotted in some programming languages. All this started from Logiker’s “Christmas Star” challenge ( http://logiker.com/Vintage-Computing-Christmas-Challenge-2022 ) , where also I am partecipating (but … Continua a leggere Christmas Star Challenge: a simple approach in Javascript

A usb floppy reader for a TheVic20

No so much time ago I stumbled upon this article about connecting and prepping a usb floppy reader to a TheC64.
My “don’t tell me anymore” come instantly and I started my trials with a usb floppy reader that I already owned.

Sadly, that one didn’t seem to work with TheVic20 and formatting in Fat12 not always succeded, so I bought this on Amazon and presto! it worked like a charm!

I’ve formatted and prepared 4 disks this evening, with 3 of my games (check my Itch.io page to get them!) and Rogue 64, that I really love (and hate, they wrote that game when I had in mind something similar!)

Next step will be to spray paint the floppy reader with a Vic20ly colour and to apply a label.

I need also to build some sort of pushbutton in order to “unplug” and “plug” the usb cable, because TheVic20 – at least in its firmware version – doesn’t see the usb floppy reader anymore after a floppy is ejected.

Tiny Invaders – work in progress

Happy to announce that my Tiny Invaders is at a good point of development.

This is my first real asm game, I hope to not give life to too much bugs, only to tiny aliens!

Scheduled completion for the end of 2020, hoping that it’s not also the end of the world, otherwise all this work will be unusefull, lol.

The game is developed inside Retroprogrammers Inside’s Space Invaders Challenge, join this great group and start learning:

E io l’ho fatto… in BASIC! 👨‍🚀🖥️
