About Baylissa Frederick
I am a therapist, counsellor and clinical supervisor, with more than two decades of experience. I support individuals through complex emotional, psychological, and withdrawal-related challenges. I hold a master’s degree in Integrative Counselling, combining Humanistic, CBT, and Psychodynamic approaches. My original training was in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy, which I completed in 2001, and I have since trained extensively in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma healing, and recovery from narcissistic, sexual, domestic, and other forms of abuse.
I am also a certified Mindfulness teacher, and mindfulness, acceptance, and self-kindness form the heart of my therapeutic work. My personal experience of healing from a prescribed-drug injury (taken for dystonia – a neurological condition) deepened my understanding of the lived realities of withdrawal and strengthened my commitment to supporting others through their own journeys. For almost twenty years, I have dedicated my professional life to helping individuals navigate benzodiazepine, antidepressant, gabapentinoid, and opioid withdrawal and post-acute withdrawal syndrome/neurological dysfunction.. I offer safe, ethical care rooted in compassion, evidence-informed practice, and lived experience wisdom.
I also work as a clinical supervisor (APT-certified), guiding therapists, counsellors, coaches, doctors and allied healthcare professionals who support clients and patients affected by prescribed-drug withdrawal and post-acute withdrawal syndrome/neurological dysfunction. Alongside this, I regularly facilitate training workshops and professional education in this field.
My greatest fulfilment comes from helping people reconnect with hope, resilience, and their innate capacity to heal.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by its Ethical Framework.
