An old friend [12 Jul 2009|09:59pm]

I've neglected lj a lot lately, maybe because it was part of an old life so to speak, but mostly because of socially networked blogosphere bullshit. Now that the blogosphere has been invaded by pretty much everyone who can figure out how to send a flipping email, I'm back to seek a little solace and sanity. Amazing world we are in when LJ can be a place of solace, ain't it?

Do people still LJ or is it now just overrun with emo kids, russians, and pederasts?

Cure for the bummer life [11 Jul 2008|02:46pm]
Man, I catch myself getting down about things lately. You know, seeing the gas prices raise to $4.10 today, reading in the local news where the local electric utility is attempting to raise their prices a staggering 12%, and the constant news of business closing and layoffs. Then you realize that you, one dude, can't really change all that. You can make your own little impact, but nothing earth shattering.

Nope, you can't change the world, but you can change yourself. Make an impact on yourself, and the shit that is going on around you will stop to matter so much.

(my little entry of zen for the day)

Ok, I haf a question. I need to use Photoshop to automate a process, specifically adding a image to another image. Like, image one is a picture, and image two is a logo. I know you can do this with photoshop, and setup a batch to do it automatically, but fiik how to actually go about it.

GOOROO'S PLS 2 HELP KTHX

(FYI I'm using Photoshop 7, but have access to CS, if I needed it I could get CS3).

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT [26 Aug 2007|05:24pm]
There is an entry that you should read, but it probably shows up on yesterday even though I modified the date to be today. So check my journal and check it out.

Oh hi.

I did it. [16 Jun 2007|01:05pm]
I can't believe I did. I thought I might lose a pound or two in dehydration today, but the 50 miles in 90+ degree heat helped shed more.

And before my shower, it was there. Looking at me on the scale. 201 pounds less than what I was on June 14, 2005.. it was there.

I'm sitting here shocked and not really knowing what to do. I mean, I had thought about on my ride (since I forgot my iPod) writing a entry about how far I've come and how close I am.. but I never thought it would really happen. I was 7 pounds away yesterday, so close but just not close enough.

Two years ago I was given a death sentence, in the number on the scale. I weighed over 500 pounds, and - according to the doctor - I would have been lucky to make it to 30, but doubtful I would ever see 40. He said that if I wanted children, I should have them soon, so I can appreciate them a bit before some health problem gets me first.

Well Doc, today I saw 50. 50 miles on the bike. Two years ago I could barely make it up two flights of stairs.

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

Sure, the first hundred were at the clinic, by the help of the super liquid diet. But this hundred? This shit is all mine.

I did it. Fuckin' June, I love this month.

I swear, I couldn't even make this shit up if I tried.. [02 Jun 2007|01:19pm]
Okay get this. When I stopped working at the Kwik-E-Mart I thought I had seen it all. All the stupidity possible. But then, today, I went to the Kwik-E-Mart to pick up some sodas for the Jess and I.

And that's when I saw the stupidest thing ever.

Setup. I'm in line, and in front of me is a guy who is typical redneck WT Nebraska trash. In front of him is some old lady taking her sweet time. Behind the counter is the lady working the register, another lady who I think was the manager, and the child of the manager, a child probably about 5 or 6. Behind me are several people in line.

So WT dude gets antsy from waiting and hands his handful of lottery tickets to the kid behind the counter and says "hey, scan these for me". By kid I mean the 5 or 6 year old child.

Yes, Einstein handed a five or six year old child lottery tickets to scan for him.

Both employees were busy with the old lady and didn't notice, but I and apparently the dude behind me noticed. My jaw is on the floor and about 5 seconds later, as the 5 year old is standing there scanning these tickets in, the guy behind me belts out:
"Hey MORON, you just handed LOTTERY TICKETS TO A FIVE YEAR OLD."
Seriously, I about died of laughter. I mean I thought it was all over.

Then it got better.

So everyone is laughing and the employees panic. Obviously. One of them says something to the effect of "why did you hand my kid your lottery tickets?" He retorts with something to the effect of "because he was behind the counter!" Which might be a joke, or like he's fucking with them, but...

Then he starts arguing with them, as they total up how much money in tickets were scanned. The total doesn't match the total of the tickets given to them, as you know, a FIVE YEAR OLD KID fucked up and didn't scan them right. Then he gets PISSED because they can't re-scan the tickets that the kid fucked up. He belts out "You mean I'm out six bucks because that little bastard fucked up!?"

You could have heard a pin drop, and I think everyone's jaw was on the floor. I mean, seriously, I couldn't believe someone could be that stupid but in Nebraska anything is possible.

Cue more argument, then the clerk finally gets pissed off and throw the money at him (almost literally) and basically told him to go to hell, and oh here's the phone number of their boss if he really wants to complain.

I swear, only in Nebraska. Which made me remember this from yesterday. I'm biking home on Calvert street, right? Well I'm going down the street at just over 25mph (the speed limit is 25) and a Prius passes me. At the wheel is some middle aged lady that yells "GET BACK ON THE SIDEWALK!"

The last time someone did that, I caught up with them and yelled "YOU'RE SPEEDING" (downhill + 48x11 low gear = 37-ish mph ftw). This time I was speechless and just said...

..ONLY IN NEBRASKA.

I've been pissed off. Not just pissed off, but FUCKING pissed off. On and off for the past year, I have. Recently it's been worse (just ask poor Jess, who has to deal with me), and the past 24 hours probably as bad as it's been.

Why?

Because of Tate M Wright. The little cocksucker that decided to pull out in front of me, and make my life hell for the past year. I'll say his name, and say he's a cock because you know what?

I win.

I can sit here and be pissed off all I want, which will get me exactly where it's gotten me the past year - nowhere. I'll still have an aching back, cringing when dipshits inch out at corners, and all kinds of other irrational shit. But I have my bills paid, and a check with his name on it that no matter how many legal documents I sign tells me that... I win.

So I'm through being pissed off. I'm through second guessing myself, my decisions, and my actions. I'm through having irrational feelings and outbursts. I'm through, basically, being an emo little bitch. I've had enough of thinking about it, and am finally ready to let it go.

Here's what I AM going to do. I'm going to use that money to build my little home gym. I'm going to use that gym to finish what I started, what his actions interrupted. And I'm going to prove that it's going to take a whole hell of a lot more than a fucked up back, a little bit of pain and some asshole in a Chevy pickup to keep me down.

Word is bond.

Natey can make any day better.

As a secondary note, I took the work truck that lacks the audio input jack, so I was relegated to FM broadcast for the 90 minute drive to Fremont this AM. I had almost forgotten what stations were out there!

Oh.. [06 Apr 2007|09:38pm]
I forgot to mention the new NIN. I "stumbled on it".

It's hot. In ways I can't really sum up. "With Teeth" wasn't bad, but it was no Fragile or TDS.

But Year Zero? Fucking badass.

And Survivalism is like the new Head Like A Hole.

Yeah, I'll be heading to Worst Buy on the 17th to pick up a copy. First CD I'll have bought in like.. 4 or 5 years. Because I need to rip this shit in losless, then see if I can blow up Mr Alpine.

Oh, and I'm totally not allowed to listen to this while on the bike. I'll be a gooey mass of muscles.

Yes, it's that good.

Today.. [13 Mar 2007|03:49pm]
Today I had a problem with some programming for a class I'm taking.

So I sat back, fired up my computer, and leveraged the power of .BOX to bring in a solution for my enterprise homework.

Viva Las... Lincoln? [26 Feb 2007|08:57am]
Fuckin sweet, I got the washer and dryer hooked up. I sprung for braided/stainless washer lines after someone warned me about the rubber ones bursting. Come to find out - asked the dude at the hardware store - that's pretty much the number one problem with washers. The hoses always are pressurized and the rubber just gets brittle, and hopefully you luck out and the hot water one bursts so that you only get like 30 gallons of water on the floor, not unlimited. The stainless ones, however, even come with a 10 year guarantee not to burst.

Someone remind me in 2017 to change them bastids, coo?

Now I'm going to run around trying to find some detergent so I can get a load of laundry in to test this bastid out!

(I'm really enjoying this whole house shit if you didn't figure it out already. I'm pretty sure by the end of the day I'll be digging shit up, or something other entirely kwakky)

New house! [24 Feb 2007|09:18pm]
We are in our new house and very, very very happy. The move went beyond smooth, we were COMPLETELY done with both moves by noon. We started at 9:30pm. I attribute this to Jess doing an amazing job of organizing.

Now it's off to setup beds and get some much needed sleep.

And yes, pics coming soon :)
