Update

Well, my dear blog-friends, hope I could catch up fast with you by updating my virtual window since I did not write for a little while. Problems to face: this country have been facing a semi-drought season, and that included programmed blackouts that range from 4- 10 hours daily, leaving us without electricity, technology AND water. Yes the systems down here work together, for some reason I really started to miss first-world supplies, you know…. Could you imagine living without any type of electricity and water for an average of 8 hours daily? It is a real pain, believe me. It will drive anybody crazy. Well, some generators helped a little. Luckily the blackouts are programmed in such a way that it doesn’t interrupt with lunch and dinner time. I can’t imagine myself (pregnant and all) and with a toddler having to eat out every day. The blackouts comes usually in mid-morning and then again in the afternoon. It is my understanding that this drought problem is something several South American countries are facing now.

Coming back to positive thoughts, Daniel, my baby and I are celebrating as much as we can the holiday season. Malls, parking lots, crowding pressures, etc, is part of the enlightening, but we are enjoying it . Baby number two is doing just fine. Thanks God! We are pretty excited about this new partner to our family.

We recently moved. It was quite hard to manage having a toddler, being pregnant, and a husband that is gone most of the time, but we managed it well (at least I feel like we did, and that counts, right?). We are in a nicer place, near a park and the malls, and the airport. Now we constantly get to hear Francesca saying “look mommy an airplane” and she gets really excited. I guess it means that she remembers that’s the way to go back home. Also Francesca has stopped using the pacifier; man, that was a real battle, but finally we have closed that stage in her life. I was urged to separate these two great pals (Francesca and binky) because I was worried that moments of peace now could affect her teeth for the future. So yeah! One stage down.

Now we are battling the task of potty training, my goal was always to potty train her before baby number two. So now we are battling that humongous task which is hard on me, having to battle a two year old while pregnant. But we are getting there. So far we’re half way. She finally has accomplished to pee (or do “water” as she calls it) on the potty when she is awake. So no more diaper while she is awake [$$$ ;)]. But how to do it while she is sleeping or when we are out, I still don’t know. Any suggestions or past experiences are more than welcome because I am pretty much stuck right now.

Another good news, is that we came back to the states for the holidays!!! Yes!! We are having a good time in California. Hope to find some new stuff to mention to you as soon as I can from the place I am now (well, temporarily). Well, guys, that’s a wrap for now. I will be in touch.

After playing around with us for such a long time the baby has finally decided to let us its sex. I was talking to the baby the other day and told it that if it wouldn't let us know its sex, it wouldn't have a nice name. Note the emphasis on the word "it". I was tired of not knowing. Seems like a simple convincing (or threatening) was needed. Am I too mean to my kids?

I guess big sister will be excited to have some company to play dolls with. As a side comment: "What's going on that recently I have noticed a trend of baby girls, again?" hahaha. :-) Guess they like to come down to earth together.

Oh, Man!!

Image

Yesterday, at the Church conference we attended, we were listening to the transmission in English in a room full of missionaries and other americans (around 20-30 people) . Towards the end of the afternoon session the signal had problems and the image went off for like 1 minute. That's when everybody (including Daniel & me) got surprised by Francesca exclaiming aloud from the back of the room a well known phrase: "Oh, man!!". Everyone turned around and started smiling at her. That was a very refreshing action compensating for what was happening to the signal.

"I Don't Know"

Last week, while I was watering some flowers I realized Francesca was not near me as she usually does; then, I started to called out "Frances, where are you?" and from behind the curtains of my living room, to my surprise, came a sweet response "I don't know". It was so funny, considering that me or Daniel have not tought her that little trick.

Quito

Quito is the capital city of Ecuador. Well, I know that's not new for many people, but.... anyways. That's is the place where we are temporarily living down here in the south. When I say we I mean Francesca and I as Daniel is most of the time on business trips 3 weeks of eeevvvverrrryyy month. Well, he likes that and I think is ok for now. He is usually in Venezuela, and we can' t go there because of security reasons, you know. Here, we had the opportunity to steal Daniel for a day to visit the historic center of Quito. It is SUCH a beatiful place, rich in culture and history. This picture is of the view from the St. Francis church and monastery, which is the first church contructed in Quito around 1534. It's like going back to the past but having same fun of today.

We are having a great time down here, except for the drastic changes of weather during the day. We wake up to 42 degrees to have a 70 degrees afternoon and then we go back to a very cold night. Sometimes I feel as if we are gonna break as rocks. But, it is cool. Besides that, this is an amazing place pretty close to mother nature in its primeval state. Which sometimes reminds of the time we used to live in Salt Lake sorrounded by beautiful mountains.

Last week's Daniel's headache

Image (a week after the accident when the swelling had gone down)

Last week we had an accident at the park. Somehow Francesca fell from the stairs to the slides. She was going up the stairs and her body went to the side and landed on her face. It was a huge scare. Everything passed through my mind so fast. The way she fell made me anticipate, to my horror, she was going to be so hurt, and I saw her and myself spending several days in the hospital; but, fortunately there were just some scratches and a small bump in her forehead; nothing serious after all. We took her to doctor everything seems to be fine. It was nothing a huge ice cream wouldn't fix... and calm.
