The article highlights a deeply troubling crisis facing street-connected children in Pakistan, who remain largely invisible to authorities and are subject to widespread sexual exploitation and abuse, exacerbated by poverty, lack of safe shelter, limited social services, and criminalisation of street life. It underscores how these children — often surviving through informal labor or begging — are at high risk of predation and violence, with cultural stigma and weak enforcement of child protection laws leaving them with few avenues for safety or support.
Countries that sign the Global Charter on Children's Care Reform are encouraged to make their own commitments describing specific actions they will take to realise the aims of the Charter.
