Today is Saturday and Beck and Desh had lessons first thing this morning. Josh and I were the only other ones that got up and out first thing, so we had a couple runs together after those two were with their class. We lucked out and a winter storm rolled in over night and dropped a few inches of snow along with a whole day of heavy snow for us. It was pretty much a dream day on the mountain with as much snow as we could ever ask for in a day! We took full advantage and just kept at it as long as we could.
Once we got everyone out and together we spent lots of time up Powder Hollow and loved all the new snow and powder we kept running into. The kids all loved jumping off this one spot up there and it was a nice soft landing whether they landed it or not!
We spent the whole day doing all our favorite runs and then re-doing them again and again. We hit My-Oh-My to Candyland to Snake, or down to Hawkeye and through the trees then past the cabin back to Crest. A favorite is up to Powder Hollow and down through Wren Hollow taking every turn and jump through the trees and ending back at Crest. Tantamount, Camel Hump, Powder Kingdom, Majestic Terrain Park, the Slide; so many places we loved and can’t get enough of and we just wore them all out today! And wore me out in the meantime. My legs were burning as we charged through the powder and just kept going. But these are my favorite kind of days and none of us wanted to stop.
We did take a small break during lunch and had a tiny nap to recharge our batteries so we could ski the rest of the night. It kept on snowing, so we wanted to be out there in it. For a while it was Josh and I, Beck, Desh and Rhen that rode together and we couldn’t help but call ourselves the Fab Five for just a bit!
Tonight was amazing and fairly warm with lots of snow and few crowds. Perfect combo for a night to ski. We spent a lot of time on Snake before we headed back to Crest to finish out the night. We eventually met up with the rest of the kids and for the last couple runs it was all 8 of us!
I adore watching my kids on the mountain and loving every minute of being together. We ended up at Camel Hump where everyone jumped off of it in a row while I videoed and was happy just to watch. At 8:48 we were riding up the lift and the kids decided that they should try for one more run before it closed at 9:00. I knew that my legs couldn’t make it down there that fast, so the 7 of them raced down the mountain to get one last run in. I gladly took my time and we all met back up at the cabin for dinner and a recap of the day. To say we were exhausted was an understatement. But we made memories a plenty today and went to bed happy!
