ta-daaaa!!!!

i finished the skirt!

the pattern nearly killed me, it looks like crap, but i finished it all by myself! and i promised to wear it out in public tomorrow to show my sisters. so please, if you happen to see me sporting this homemade disaster, stand really really far away

{that way it will look halfway decent}

and today in class i pulled out my new pattern for another skirt only to find out i bought a size 22.

happy birthday husband {part 2}

For husband's birthday i woke him up and sent him on his way, so i could surprise him with THE ultimate breakfast; roll-ups {or as normal people call them, crepes}.

you may be wondering "whats the big deal?". well then let me tell you a little story

5 years ago a young wife decided to surprise her new husband and make him his favorite breakfast. a breakfast his grandma had made his whole life. something he only got when he would visit her in california. so in hopes to impress her new husband, she set out to make these special roll-ups, only to find that she completely butchered them and they resembled much like a pancake, and nothing like a crepe. poor sweet husband lovingly told her to never ever make roll-ups again and to leave it to grandma and sister jonikka (who learned from grandma}. so the young wife secretly took in some much needed lessons {from sister}, perfected the art of the roll-up, and now 5 years later surprised him with her new found talent!

it was one of the best surprises ever! although now i think this little treat has come around to bite me. husband assured me he will be demanding these on a regular basis, which means my thighs will be growing substantially. oh well, it's kind of worth it.

we spent the afternoon strolling thru ikea, where i just get annoyed with people, and husband seems to find that amusing. then we went to dinner with david and karen @ cheeburger cheeburger and to a d-backs game where jared's mom surprised him with a birthday cookie {his parents were also at the game with some friends}. after the game we decided the night couldn't possibly be over so we caught a late movie!

for date night this week, I took husband to a jazz bar for dinner, so fun!

Since birthdays are kind of a big deal around here......

last night {as an early birthday present} i took husband to see one of his favorite bands

Depeche Mode

and might i say, they put on a pretty rad concert

{and might i also say,

i may or may not be very attracted to dave gahan (lead singer). 

and he may or may not be very attracted to other men. 

oh well, the man can shake those hips}

as for the other guy: i enjoy a man with enough confidence to wear an entire suit made out of sequin. bravo!

and of course husband and david couldn't leave without getting matching sweatshirts

on another note, husband hit our date night out of the ballpark and took me for dinner, then to get massages, and a little gelato treat afterwards. he pretty much knows how to win my heart.

and today mom and i officially started our sewing class at MCC. watch out Project Runway!

quick trip

husband and i decided to go up to the cabin tuesday night, because well, that's how we roll.

we both were able to take wednesday and thursday off so we made the best of it!

with puppy in tow, we packed our things and headed up late tuesday night after work.

there was a lot of relaxation going on, {and maybe a little mud bogging as well}

puppy made a new friend with the neighbor's dog {who maybe liked dodger a little too much}

and we saw the time traveler's wife {which maybe made me a little sad and never wants husband to leave}

all in all, a great way to spend the middle of our week ;)

fondue...for two

in an attempt to spice things up & spend more time together 

{i know, i know. there's only 2 of us! you'd think all we have is time. but on the contrary. with family, friends, work and school, its pretty busy around here. not to mention we seem to end up doing the same old stuff when it is just the two of us}

solution : Date night

the rules : once a week one of us plans a special night together, something a tad out of the ordinary

and what better way to kick off our new weekly tradition than fondue and thrifty's! {i know, thrifty's isn't out of the ordinary, more like once a week kinda thing, but it sure does make us happy}

i cant wait to see what husband has planned for this week!
