How did this happen?

How did this happen? When was the moment we decided to be homesteaders? It must have been when we bought the place. We could have done anything with the land. A tractor sure would help with the mowing and digging. John deer is a good brand. We need animals to keep the weeds down. Goats were the first purchase. They eat everything. Chickens came too, they're easy and they give us eggs. Not to mention they eat bugs and snakes. Then came a horse. I had horses since I was 4 years old so that was a no brainer. Fun for the kids and I. Then Brett thought mini longhorn's would be cool. Good meat, easy keepers. Cool horns. Then we needed a barn to store everything, that just made sense. Let's make it red! It has evolved into what it is today. Some friends call it a farm, we get to call it home. We love it!

Thanksgiving at the cabin

We are loving our new cabin in Truckee. Fire in the fireplace all week. Trails to explore. Snow to play in. Puzzles to work on. Late night board games. Hot chocolate. What's not to love?? Can't wait to hit the ski slopes or try our hand at snowmobiling. Fun, fun!

Here's a view from the master bathroom.
