The following document is a list of guidelines that all participants in our events are expected to follow. By submitting to one of our events, either as a runner, commentator, host, or any form of Staff or volunteer, you agree to the following guidelines. The guidelines within this policy are subject to change and updates over time at the discretion of FPE Staff.
Fast Paced Events has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in regards to harassment of all kinds, including but not limited to the following behaviors:
In addition to the above, trolling or unwanted attention given in regards to the following topics may be considered harassment, not limited strictly to this list:
If a person is found to be engaging in any of the above, Fast Paced Events staff will take prompt action to rectify the situation at their discretion including removal from the event or barring the person from participating in future FPE events. ALL participants, including staff, are expected to follow the above policy and they will be held to the same standards as all other participants.
If you are uncomfortable and uncertain if behavior counts as a violation of the above policy, we encourage you to inform staff so we can take note of it. Confirmed behavior of activities that are not strictly against these guidelines may result in sanctions being handed down. Fast Paced Events staff want to make our events safe and enjoyable for everyone and that includes disallowing behavior that repeatedly pushes boundaries without strictly violating the rules.
You can report any harassment that you are a subject of, or witness to by contacting staff members or by sending us an email. Staff members can be identified by the staff role in the FPE discord and can be reached directly at:
fastpacedevents@gmail.com
Above all else, treat staff, runners, volunteers, and your fellow community members with respect. Insults and attacks, whether explicit or implicit, are not welcome. Concern trolling, or other attempts to appear polite while remaining disruptive are not welcome. Fast Paced Events staff requests talent and members of the community to aspire to not act in any way that would necessitate writing a new rule to cover your behavior.
Broadcast bans will by default be 12 months, but may be extended or reduced at the staff's discretion. You will not be allowed on the FPE stream, or to volunteer for the event during this period. You may watch the stream, participate in chat, and depending on the severity of the ban you may remain in the community Discord at Staff’s discretion.
All ban appeals must be sent to fastpacedevents@gmail.com. Any ban appeal must contain your Discord and/or Twitch Username, a detailed description of the circumstances surrounding your ban, and a detailed description of why you believe your ban should be reduced or dropped. Contacting staff directly about bans will result in being referred to the e-mail address above instead.
For reference, here is a list of ideas that you can reference when trying to prepare for your own commentary:
These are just examples, and if you have questions, always feel free to ask the staff.
Any speech or behavior that would fall under a violation of the harassment policy outlined in the rules is not permitted on stream. This includes making disparaging comments about any of the protected categories in a “joking manner.” Even if you are attempting to make fun of yourself, some viewers may not be aware of who you are or that aspect of yourself. We encourage talent to avoid making people uncomfortable with such jokes while on our stream.
Please try to keep language PG while on stream. An occasional swear or slip in language is not going to draw any ire from staff, but we may ask you to watch your language if more than a few slips are made. We expect runners, commentators, and hosts to keep the content family friendly. If you are unable to control your language or the subject matter you talk about, Fast Paced Events staff may bar you from participating in the future.
Avoid topics that are polarizing or controversial in nature. Avoid demonstrations of those topics via speaking, written material, clothing, etc. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Wearing religious clothing such as a cross, hijab, kippah, or other articles of clothing or accessories related to your faith is not a violation of the rules. To be clear, Fast Paced Events staff are only interested in blocking demonstrations against certain religions, and proselytizing. Talent should be welcome in expressing their own personally held beliefs in a way that is not meant to be proselytizing.
Both the staff members, and the current restreamer on shift during a run have the ability to give instructions through Discord during your run. If a staff member requests you to drop a certain line of discussion, or to stop behaving in a certain manner, you are expected to follow that request without arguing. Refusing or willfully continuing in a behavior that we have asked you to stop during your run may result in you losing your privilege to participate in future events, or even immediate removal from the stream if the violation is extreme.
The nature of acceptable behavior, speech, and activity on stream is always at Fast Paced Events staff discretion.
Runners, commentators, and volunteers selected for our events are expected to represent the charity, but also the stated mission of Fast Paced Events. As such, we hold those participating both on stage, and behind the scenes to a higher standard than viewers or members of the discord.
For this reason, we expect talent and volunteers to be respectful of others not only during the event but also with their online presence in public including social media. Behavior found to be in violation of the harassment policy while online, or even at other events may result in sanctions taken against the person in question’s ability to participate in Fast Paced Events.
Additionally, due to the nature of our events prioritizing mental health and seeking help when it is needed, we will also consider if we believe platforming talent will have a negative impact on our viewers. If the talent’s online presence is filled with harmful discussions about mental health or excessive discussion and promotion of self-harm, we may decide that it goes against our mission to platform such content. This guideline is not meant to discourage talking about mental health, in fact talking about mental health struggles can make others feel more comfortable discussing their own. Fast Paced Events emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy and supportive dialogue on the subject of mental health.
Currently, we only actively search within the last 12 months of public history, but in cases of severe violations such as targeted harassment, violence, or other extreme concerns staff reserves the right to research further to come to our final evaluation.
