Thank you for your interest in joining STEM Muse
Unfortunately, we will not be hosting a Fall 2025 cycle.
Due to a significant loss of funding, STEM Muse will be winding down operations and will not be able to continue hosting our mentorship program for the foreseeable future.
While our formal programming is coming to a close, we want to honor the spirit of connection that has defined STEM Muse. As part of this, we are creating a STEM Muse Mentorship Network Directory. This is a static resource with profiles of mentors and mentees' academic and professional background, as well as contact information. This directory will allow mentees and mentors to reach out for networking and guidance even after the program concludes.
We would love to include you. If you’d like to be listed, please indicate your interest below and you will be re-routed to a form that will collect your academic and professional background and contact information, including your email. Your profile will be shared with past participants, as well as others who are interested in being part of the STEM Muse community, but weren't able to participate.
If you have any questions, please direct them to atxprogram@STEMMuse.com. Thank you!
Directory Opt-In Option:
Are you interested in joining the STEM Muse Mentorship Network Directory?
If so, you will be routed to a form that will collect your profile information, including name and email, to be shared in the static STEM Muse Mentorship Network Directory. Your information will shared with past and current program participants, as well as those who also opted-into the Network Directory but have not participated in the program.
**SELECT AN OPTION TO VIEW PROGRAM INFORMATION**
Thank you for your interest in the STEM Muse Mentorship Network. Which institution’s program were you invited to be a mentor or mentee in or are you interested in participating in?
Select either you’re interested in to view information about the program, eligibility, and important dates before proceeding. Mentors may participate in both, but mentees may only participate in their institution's program.
Notice:
Mentees may only participate in the institution's program at which they are enrolled or employed and have the option to be a mentor in another institution's program.
UT Austin & ACC Mentorship Program
Thank you for joining STEM Muse in collaboration with the Society for Advancing Gender Equity in STEM at the University of Texas at Austin (SAGES) for our mentorship program supported by The University of Texas at Austin's College of Natural Sciences!
**Mentee sign-ups for the current program cycle are closed. We continue to welcome you to complete the form as pre-registration for the Fall 2025 program cycle (Sept. '25 - Feb. '26)
**Mentors who complete this form will be signing-up for the Fall 2025 program cycle (Sept. '25 - Feb. '26). In the meantime, you will be considered a Community Mentor in the current Spring 2025 program cycle and your profile (which excludes contact information) will be available to mentees for one-time informational interviews and you will receive monthly newsletters.
Please read below for more information. The videos are optional and provide a visual of what is written below.
Eligible mentees: Undergraduate students, grad students, postdocs, and research staff of any gender in STEM fields at UT Austin and at Austin Community College. Participation is not guaranteed for mentees who are not a member of the UT Austin College of Natural Sciences. Non-CNS mentees will be automatically added to a waitlist upon sign-up. STEM Muse has established a scholarship fund to sponsor non-CNS mentees on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first 5 spots already guaranteed due to sponsorship by STEM Muse. All mentees will be contacted before the mentor ranking process begins regarding their participation status and next steps.
Eligible mentors: Academics and/or industry professionals with/pursuing STEM degrees or currently pursuing a STEM-related career: undergraduate students in their 3rd year or later, grad students, postdocs, research staff, faculty, and professionals from industry. We welcome mentors of any gender, and being local/in Austin is not required.

The mentorship experience:
We will supply mentees with mentor profiles and collect mentee preferences. Then, our matching algorithm uses that information to place as many mentees with their top-choice mentor as possible. Mentees are then notified of their matches and will initiate the interaction with an email (template is provided by STEM Muse) to their matched mentor introducing themselves.
Pairs then meet for the first time at the mandatory hybrid kick-off event (on UT campus or with an option for remote attendees via Zoom, with alternatives for making it up if you have non-movable conflicts). There you fill out our pre-program survey and a program contract to re-acknowledge the commitment outlined in the document above and to set your meetings for the 6 months (you will meet once per month at a time and in a format that you agree upon as pair, or 6 times over the course of the program). There will be trainings for mentors and mentees at the kick-off in addition to resources distributed with tips for effective mentoring.
From that point, pairs meet according to the schedule they jointly set, and program organizers will provide a monthly email to check in on progress, notify participants of optional networking events and opportunities, and to remind pairs of our conversation guides– a resource we provide with questions to lead meeting discussions around topics relevant to mentees’ career journeys. Finally, we host a mandatory hybrid wrap-up event (on UT campus with an option for remote access via Zoom) to provide an opportunity for further networking with program participants and reflecting on the mentorship journey. Participants may add all program events to your personal electronic calendar through a link provided at the end of the sign-up form.
At the conclusion of this program cycle, another 6 month cycle will kick-off, such that mentees and mentors can transition into that program for an additional 6 months of mentorship if you mutually decide to do so. Alternatively, participants can join the program again and be matched to a new mentor or mentee at that point. The wrap-up event for this cycle will coincide with the kick-off event for the following cycle to enable participants to go conveniently from one to the next.
All participants have access to a google folder (linked at the end of the sign-up forms), including training materials, email templates for mentees, the program commitment document with important dates, and conversation guides.
If you have any questions, please direct them to atxprogram@STEMMuse.com or enter them in the final question of the sign-up form. Thank you!
