We had over 20 inches of snow in 30 hours. It was awesome! Dennis had some fun in the snow and we had to make paths for him, because the snow was way too deep. Rob and I took him for a long walk. Here's some pics of our day!

IT'S A...

GIRL!

Rob and I found out early this morning. We are most definitely having a girl, and we couldn't be more excited! She was a little wiggler. Watch the video, she couldn't sit still. I am so excited and the best parts I can now plan. I love planning! I get to register and start buying girl things. I get to have a baby shower! I can't wait for her to arrive! We have started thinking of baby names, and I can't wait to put a name to this little bundle inside me. It's a rough process! Choosing a name is a huge deal! But, its going to be so much fun!

U2 too!

The U2 concert was amazing! Shauna got us tickets and surprised me! It was really fun to go together, and I think I did see Shauna doing a little head banging... no? When people really got going, you could feel the stadium floor vibrate and move a little. Muse was pretty cool too, but we couldn't hear them very well. There was a lot of echo, and their vocals weren't very clear. It got better when U2 came out though. I guess Muse had to warm up the speakers for them!

So Rob and I went to the U2 concert last night. We had a lot of fun. He is definitely a bigger fan than I am, but it was fun to watch him get into the songs. Don't worry, there wasn't any head banging going on. But there was one point, where I started jumping up and down. It was more in an effort to help shake the stands with the crowd!

Idaho trip

Image

We had a pretty good trip to Idaho, under the circumstances. It was good to be with family, some I haven't seen in 15 years, at least. It was also really fun to see Katie and Ben's new house. It was really nice! Here are a few pictures from the trip... The first one, I just barely missed the Idaho state line sign. The next is for Preston, ID (w00t, Napoleon Dynamite!), and the last is a blurry one of us at the airport trying to entertain each other during the long long flights. It was also really nice to see Shauna's sister Kilee. She let us borrow her car in Salt Lake, and then drive up to Idaho. We stopped by Cafe Rio on the way up and got a Sweet Pork Salad to share. It was fun the way Shauna was trying to feed me while I was driving. When we got back to Salt Lake after the funeral, we stayed at the Kimball, (which has seen better days). We spent some time on our last day visiting Temple Square. I think we spent the most time at Deseret Book. We wandered over to the Lyon House for lunch, but Shauna's tummy didn't like the way anything looked. We ended up going to the Joseph Smith History Building and eating at a cafe on the top floor. We kept getting emails that our flight kept getting pushed back... Until the point where there was no way we were going to catch our connection in Denver. Calling United, they were no help. We ended up just going to the airport with hope we'd get home that night. There was a nice United lady that got it figured out for us, sending us threw Dallas on American instead. When we landed in Dallas, it was crazy to see all of the newly built, high school football stadiums... Come'on its high school football...

We got home pretty late, but slept in, and went to the Doctor for that high res ultra sound Shauna was talking about a few posts back. It was really fun to see the baby at such high res. I'm convinced I saw something, so I'm calling him "he", until I hear/see otherwise. Hearing the heart beat for the first time was really amazing too. The little guy thought he was being funny when the lady told him to turn over... He just kept doing it. I guess we forgot to say when to stop. ;) Obviously our kid!

So cool!

So yesterday, Rob and I went to a "special" doctor's appointment, where they do a first trimester screening. They did some blood work and then had a really high tech ultrasound. We saw the baby again, and it's doing well, not sure yet, whether its a girl or a boy. It was not very wiggly this time though, which is quiet funny, cause every other time, it can't stop moving. Yesterday, the ultrasound tech was trying to get it to move to she would jiggle my tummy and tell it to move, so she could see the side of it's neck. Well apparently we have a little snarky fellow, cause it started doing flips and then wouldn't stop moving! Well finally, she got some good pictures and everything looks good. It looks healthy. We heard the heartbeat, which was really cool, and then all of the sudden we would hear a big thud, and it would be the baby kicking! It was kind of funny. The due date seems to officially be March 18, 2010. Same day at my dad's birthday!

Well, I've decided to tell my boss today that I'm pregnant. We are in the middle of budget season for next year, so after gathering some advice, now would be the best time to tell him about it. I want to come back part-time, so it might be a good time so they can plan it in budgets if he approves it. I think my job would be just fine part-time. We'll see what he says!

What a great day!

Yesterday was one of the first days I didn't have ANY nausea or feel sick at all! It was amazing! It has been months before I have felt that great. Before you think I'm being dramatic in saying months, we do have to remember I was suffering from my other stomach issues up until the time we got pregnant, so it's been nonstop nausea and sickness since March!

Well anyways, yesterday was a great day! And it was so nice outside too, so when I got home from work, Rob and I took Dennis on a bike ride and to the dog park. Dennis loved it! And apparently the baby did too! We felt it kicking! It was so awesome, active little fellow, apparently it really liked the bike ride.

Well, that's about it for now, just had to update you all on our first baby kick experience!

Grandma and Grandpa Olson

ImageGrandma Olson passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22 at around 12:45 pm PST in Spokane, WA at home. She was very loving and kind, and always made you feel wonderful. She will truly be missed. I love you Grandma.

North Carolina...and beyond

So Rob and I went to North Carolina for a long weekend. It was actually pretty fun, despite the constant thunderstorms. The thunderstorms were actually even pretty cool. They were loud! We still found stuff to keep ourselves busy though. We went to a farmer's market and bough some fresh fruit. There we saw the USS North Carolina, which is pictured above. And also the fun river scene. We went to the Cotton Exchange, which is a specilaty mall built in really old buildings. We got massages, and even went to the mall, which was actually quite fun, becuase I found some frogs I want to buy! They live in their own ecosystem. You only have to feed them like once a week and change their water 2x a year! Practically can't kill them even if you tried! That's the type of water pet I need!

In memory, Rob's grandma passed away this weekend too. She will surely be missed. Rob has such great fond memories of her and the time they shared together. We will be traveling to Idaho over Labor Day weekend. We will fly into SLC and then Kilee is kind enough to let us borrow her car to get up to Idaho. On the upside. When we get back to SLC, we get to go to Cafe Rio! Yumm...the best place in Utah, by far!

On another note...today starts 10 weeks of pregnancy! Yay! We're moving right along. That's the upside. The other side, I woke up to a belly! I am getting bigger! I have a little pooch. I can't say I'm too thrilled about it, as I thought I had another few weeks still to go. I think I can hide it a bit longer though. Not ready to tell anybody yet!

Yeah, so yelling at Dennis while he's peeing on the carpet... Not a good idea. Ooops

Happy Birthday Shauna!!

Image

I threw a surprise party for Shauna! She thought I didn't get here a cake. I infact got her a cake with little mutant aliens on it, which I later found out were bees...

GOING STRONG (for the most part)

Image
So we just got back from the doctor (actually meeting our midwife) and things went well. We like her. She's pretty nice, and also very willing to sit down with you and answer any questions you have. She also gave me medicine for nausea! YAY!! Big YAY!! Hopefully this will help! My due date got moved back a few days, now I am due on March 21, 2010. Which still leaves me ending out the 8th week. On monday (my birthday nonetheless) I'll be starting week 9! That's our little blob above, but I guess I need a new nickname for him/her, because it actually has a BIG head, some arms and legs now! What the coolest part was, is that it was dancing around for us! Very awesome! It just wouldn't stop moving! It did put a huge smile on my face!

The Lowes Vanderbilt is a pretty nice hotel. Here is a picture of my room. I walked to get a haircut before my presentation tomorrow and saw a 5 Guys way over here in TN. I also saw the most used telephone pole ever!

We have a due date!

Image
So we just got back from the doctor and we have a due date. It is March 19, 2010. So, that makes me 6.5 weeks! Yay! That means only 5.5 more weeks of nausea! We even got to see the little heartbeat. Wow, it was going strong and fast! Well, we have a little embryo and he/she is growing strong!

One piece of sad news is that the doctor I have been seeing doesn't deliver babies anymore, so I need to go start seeing one of his associates. I have another appointment in 2 weeks to see the midwife. We'll see how she does, or if we need to go see a "actual" doctor.

Dennis stole at the Dog Park!

Image

It's kind of rainy, and has been a long day. I took Dennis over to the dog park to get him worn out before Shauna gets home. Dennis stole some dogs toy and chased a big puppy around called Roxy. It was really funny to watch.

Management Shmanagement

We've been having a long bout with our management in relation to problems wrong with our apartment. They have yet to do anything about it, and it's been 2 months. We've had to throw away spoiled/rotten food 3x now, because the fridge stops working. We also have a runaway washing machine, that decides when we do laundry it should try and wiggle itself out of the closet. Did I say wiggle? I meant loudly jump from one side to the other...

After a not so pleasant exchange via email, our management made an appointment with us and said they would come by this morning at 10am. 10:30...didn't show up, and an email was sent asking where they were. 11:00 didn't show up... 11:30 still not there, and another email was sent saying we would report them and take action if our concerns were not resolved by the end of the day. Imagine our surprise when 20 minutes later then maintenance guy shows up! This was good, except for some odd reason the management lady decided she didn't need to come! They're supposedly coming back at 2pm to start on repairs, we'll see if she finds it necessary to show up this time!

Weekend with the Fam

Image

So we went to Pennsylvania this last weekend to visit with my family and to see Jennifer one last time before she heads off to China. Yup, that's right, she gets to live abroad! Yeah, I'm a bit jealous. We went to Kennywood, which is a little amusement park south of Pittsburgh. Due to obvious reasons, I couldn't ride some of the rides, but I did have fun riding the cars, the water log ride, and also some ghost laser tag ride: interesting concept. Anyways, we had fun!

SURPRISE!

Image
Yup! It's true! We're pregnant! We went to the doctor today and got the first sonogram done. Looks like I'm about 5 weeks. We go back next week and we'll get to see the heartbeat! He'll also be able to tell more when I'll be due. It seems the little bugger isn't very telling! Very exciting.

HELLO!

We seem to be the last of everyone to set up a blog, so here it is!

We wanted to be able for all our friends and family to be closer and get a glimpse at what's going on...so we'll try this out!
