Reflections:
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Definitely more, since I'm coming off a 15 year dry spell. I'm loving that Kathryn Janeway and Chakotay have really sparked my muse. I've never been this prolific a writer! I'm loving every moment of it!

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
I tend to not skip around my fandoms, so I prety much stayed with my predictable J/C and Voyager.

What's your own favorite story of the year?
Oh man... For me it's a cin toss between The Times They Are A Changing (Who knew I had an epic in me??!!) and Come Healing. Come Healing has spawned a whole new world for me.

Did you take any writing risks this year?
So many. I posted Times as a WIP, unfinished. I'd never done that before and the fact that I stuck with the story, as long as it was, and it didn't 'get away from me' is a miracle. I'm currently in the middle of a WIP that I really need to get back to. (Before my reading audience starts to riot. LOL)

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?
Last year my Word count goal was 100K and I wrote over 150K, so this year, I'm sticking with the 100K, with an eye for that 150K again. My goal is to finish a lot of the WIPS (non-posted) that I have started and just stay as prolific as I was last year. Fingers crossed I can keep up the pace!

My best story of this year:
Best story this year? I think Come Healing. It's one that even I like to re-read a lot. LOL

My most popular story of this year:
I'm going to say Times They Are A Changing, but I wonder if that's because it was posted as I went, so each chapter got reactions. It certainly has the most comments over all.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I think I'm going to say The Face Of The Enemy. Folks, I think, tend to stay away from these stories because of the 'kid', but, the story is ultimately about Chakotay's reaction to the Vori, it's parallels to the Maquis and Cardassian fight and the fact that his son is half Cardassian.

Most fun story to write:
The Explorer. The whole 'toss the POV' moment at the beginning was a lot of fun to write. As was that whole entire scene with them demoting each other as they spoke.

Story with the single sexiest moment:
25 Years Earlier. I'm rather proud of the sex scene. Even though I forgot to describe Chakotay taking his pants off and now that's all I SEE when I read the damned thing. LOL

Most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
You Are Here Under The Authority of Me. Living Witness Janeway forcing Living Witness Chakotay into a Vulcan mating/bonding ritual, complete with proximity bracelets. Much pain if he tries to run away from her. Muhahaha. (I loved this universe, I need to go back and play in it.)

Hardest story to write:
Come Healing. It's hard subject matter, and I ran into stubborn muse meets deadline issues and literally had panic attacks. But, the finished story is so, so worth it!

Biggest disappointment:
I've got a lot of stories started that I've promised. One is a Western that I really really wanted to have done by now. It's not.

Most unintentionally telling story:
You Are Here Under The Authority of Me. Haha, wait... ;) It tells you that I am a devious, devious, author.

Reached it and sailed past! My goal was 100K words. I ultimately wrote 151K. Go me!!

That said, Happy New Year everyone! My only new year's resolution this year is to try to get 100K words in by Dec 31st of 2019! So I have 365 days to go!

So I'm sitting in Starbucks and writing, and it is SO FRELLING COLD in here, I think I'm starting to develop hypothermia..

Seriously, I'm wearing two shirts and literally wrapped in a blanket. The map of Azeroth is saving me, folks.

I'm on my third venti hot beverage... I've switched to hot apple cider because even too much hot chocolate is too much caffeine...

And they're playing a lot of Christmas music (I actually have headphones in, but I can hear their music between songs) and a lot of it is Frank Sinatra. Which ordinarily is OK, but... half of the Christmas music at Studios is Sinatra, so I hear them every day for 8 hours at a time. I love you frank, but if I hear your version of Jingle Bells one more time...

Also, I'm seriously thinking of suing White Christmas for harassment. Because I swear to the Gods every time I turn around that &^$# song is playing this year... one day last week at work, I'd heard it 4 times before we'd even opened. At 9am. O.o People that is WAY too early for that crap.

Also, Since we last met... Disney Junior Live on Stage closed (Pour one out for my DJ) BUT, when one door closes another opens and Disney Junior's NEW show Disney Junior Dance Party is opening on December 22. (three days before Christmas, Ya'll. They're TRYING to kill us! LOL) But, epic news.. I am one of the lead trainers for the Ops cast for the new show!! (Everybody say WHAT WHAT!!!) You guys, I am STUPID EXCITED for the new show!! I can't wait until our guests see it!! The kids are gonna love it!!

In other news.. I have created a Janeway/Chakotay community here on DW partially in response to some of the Tumblr migration, but also, dude... I need to find more J/C peeps!! It's here at new_earth Please come play with me!!! (There will be no censorship, I just ask that NSFW stuff be under a cut)

So last week one of our Coordinators (likely in an office at Launch Bay, the top middle of the Courtyard) called me at Mermaid Fastpass (at the bottom left corner of the Courtyard) and asked me to tell my Standby greeter, to walk over to Disney Junior (at the top right corner of the Courtyard, not far from said office) to ask them why they aren't answering their phone.

My standby was like ....

But he walked over there anyway. (Battery in the cordless was dead)

20 minutes later, I passed the guy who had been my Standby during said call on my way to the computer and he said:

Hey Michele, can you do me a favor and call Toy Story to tell them to send someone over to Star Tours to ask them why they're no answering their phone?

I've gotten re-addicted to Voyager. Well, I say re-addicted, but really, I've finally fallen HARD on that train. Captain Janeway is quickly becoming my favorite Starfleet Captain. Now, I love me some Picard, but Janeway.. Oh, Janeway.



Now I just need to find out where the Voyager fandom is hiding. Specifically the Janeway/Chakotay fandom because of course I'm gonna fall for the ship that should have sailed but didn't.

Starting with the new year, I want to post feelings and instances throughout the year I can't promise that these will be daily, but... :)

It was cold, wet and windy yesterday. Theme park workers are not dressed for mid-40 degree temps in Florida. Our winter jackets are more like wind breakers with pockets. Not really gonna keep ya too warm. They finally went to walgreens gave us hand warmers at 5pm. Brrr.

I was told by the leaders that they would support me in being a trainer (Finally!) so next step is interview, to make sure I can train someone, so they'll ask me to teach them how to tie a shoe or some commonplace thing.

Top three of the day:

1. There were fortune cookies on the breakroom table when I got to work. I avoided them all day because I didn't want to start the year with a crappy fortune. Finally after I clocked out, I risked it and grabbed one. And the fortune I got, is, I think, going to be my mission statement for the year. "Every production of genius, must be the production of enthusiasm." Words to live by folks.

2. Chris Evans!! In DJ! And I had the quandary of do I pack or not, because I didn't want to make them move if they knew where they wanted to sit. (If you are wondering why Chris Evans was watching Disney Junior, he does every year with his family. The little ones love it. Also Chris Evans is a Disney nerd and he and family are down every Christmas)

3. Is this Chuck E Cheese? well, there is a mouse involved...

Since Nano starts today, and I don't do the writing, I thought I would try to do it in art. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then 50 would be worth 50,000 words.

I'm on vacation from work, which I desperately needed. I haven't taken an actual vacation since I started the job at Disney over 4 years ago.

One of the things I'm doing while on vacation is binging Supernatural. Yes, I am that late on the train. The main reason I haven't watched it, other than time and a lack of really watching TV until it's closed canon, is that Supernatural is a horror show and I am a wus. There are certain things I can't watch after dark and horror tv is one of them. Otherwise, I will either never get to sleep, or I will have nightmares. That's how I work. :)

So at the moment, I am midway through season 3. (Last thing I watched was the Christmas Ep) and my thoughts are as follows (note: these are observations from someone who is not emotionally attached to the show or it's characters, so they're more objective observations. Don't shoot the messenger)

1. My first observation is that I feel like I can't wholly dive into the show. It feels superficial to me. Like I'm completely aware that I am watching fiction. (That's not a bad thing per se, it's just, I have yet to 'feel like i'm there'). The whole first season felt like I was watching some really predictable and stereotypically bad fanfic.

2. Sam and Dean feel like they're being written with one of them as a female. (Specifically Sam) Which makes me wonder if the character wasn't originally meant to be female and a male actor was cast, so the gender was changed, but the style of writing was not.

3. I do not like Dean. He's pretty much a stereotype of all 7 of the deadly sins rolled into one not so likeable jackass. We're in the middle of the 3rd season, and I've not seen any character evolution beyond a single episode yet. (i.e he may evolve within an episode, but, once the next ep starts, reset...)

And yes, my thoughts are probably controversial, but, that's what they are from someone who has just started watching the show. I like the show itself... but, I'm just not loving the characters.

I now have a Plurk thing. It'll mostly be used for my RP stuff, but, it's there.. my username is shocking to no one: bizarra.

And can I talk about yesterday? At some point during my shift, probably when I was a Disney Junior Merge, a bird pooped on my head. And no one told me. Since it was raining, and sprinkling on and off yesterday, if I felt it, I likely brushed it off as being dripped on by rain.

I have no idea WHEN this happened in my shift and NO ONE TOLD ME!

So I was Onstage, in the deployment room, (to pick up assignments from the computer), in the break room, walked through the park and through Cast Services, in the car to the magic Kingdom where we went through the main parking gate and got to the parking tram and Magic Kingdom and finally Erin says, "you have bird poop in your hair."



I had to go through security at Magic before I could get to a bathroom and do my best to wash it off. All night at Magic I kept thinking, I hope I got it all and I can't wait to get home to wash my hair! But seriously, how did anyone not notice, or not tell me?? O.o

On a brighter note, the new Fireworks show at magic Kingdom is amazing!

Does anyone use Coppermine to keep their photos in a gallery? I purchased webspace as a Photobucket replacement, and I'm not looking for some type of gallery software/interface to upload and display the pics so they'll have linkable access. Will animated gifs work with Coppermine?

I'm looking for something that's easily accessible, free and very easy for a non-programmer like myself to use.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
