Today we went outside and made some snowmen inspired by Calvin and Hobbes. This is Nate's.

Rabbit Trapping
This fall we discovered we had a varmit problem. We discovered it lived under our shed and soon had the entrances blocked off. The bishop's son came over and helped also. He supplied us with the trap. Nothing happened for a bit so we got some firecrackers and tried to scared it out. Either it worked or it got interested in the bait. But we caught our rabbit alright. Here we are in our moment of glory.

Here is Chris and his ingenious trap. You can also see our rabbit we caught.

The last picture is empty. Chris picked up the wrong end and the rabbit went charging through the locked entrance. It broke through and rushed back under the shed. Oh Well.

Halloween 2006
Heidi wanted to be a scary witch this year. I think she looked like the perfect witch.
We had a good time ratting out all her hair and an even better time trying to get them all out.
Look at this cute bat costume that we found at TJMaxx. He was going to be the witch's pet at first, but ended up just being a vampire bat in the end.
Now for the cute chicken. He was the cutest chicken you ever did see. We attempted to take him trick or treating around the block but it was cold and he was bundled so well that he quickly fell asleep.
Here's our outside decorations for the night. The last couple of years we've anchored the spider up above the door so that it can't be seen. We have scary music playing and black lights in the outdoor lights. The big boys watch from above and when the trick or treaters get on top of the stairs they lower the spider and it pounces on them. They love hearing the girls scream!! For next year I got a 1/2 price fog machine to make it even more fun!
Our jack o' lanterns
Our lady fingers
Our ghoul-aid punch
our bat wings, caramel sauce and apples
Our tired trick or treaters crashed after a night of spooking around the neighborhood! They slept in the basement after showering, going through their loot and watching a little "Nightmare before Christmas"...... Heidi said while trick or treating 'I've been waiting for this night all year!'

Update

Hey dudes,we thought we needed to update a little bit and tell you what we've been up to. We have been enjoying this time of year. We loved peach season and ate about 4huge boxes of fresh Utah peaches. I also tried freezing a bunch with a light lemon sauce and hope they taste good in a few months. I ended up only bottling 7 quarts of peaches. Then it was time for salsa. I did 3 huge batches and ended up with around 42 pints this year. It's about the only way to get these kids to eat tomatoes. We then moved on to apples. I tried canning applesauce for the first time-what a job and a mess but it turned out great. We're eating it way too fast and it will soon be gone.
Here is a picture of the fresh apple pie that we made. Yummy!!1
Here I'm trying to destress a little with some light reading :)! Looks fun huh? Dracula has been a fun read for this time of year- even if I'm covered with children.
Jonathan has been having fun growing out his hair. He will be in a musical production of "Oliver" put on by the Idaho Falls Youth Arts Centre in a few more weeks. This night he was trying out all his possibilities for Halloween hair. I liked the Alfalfa do the best but neglected to get a picture. We can't wait to have Jessica and Sebastian join us all for a party this weekend!!!! See you all soon! Any requests for party food?
