Zenyaku 5 : Checkmate [October 2020]

Image Image

32 pages, 26cm x 17cm, Shaun Craike [art] and Susan Torre [story], Visit the Facebook page for ordering info: www.facebook.com/Zenyaku ... Now that the series is complete, I believe that you can get the whole thing for a special price!

This final issue wraps up the story of these human chess pieces [although the characters do have actual names - for example the main character is called Drake - in fact they call each other by their 'rank' from King and Queen through Bishop and Rook down to lowly Pawn.] I've always loved Shaun's art, however it's let down by the awkward, cliched writing [not to mention terrible spelling]. Although, I'll admit that I am by no means part of the target audience... Nevertheless, I would certainly look forward to seeing the progress made in this area if Shaun and Susan unite on another project.

Wotta pleasure to receive another packet of comics from the Dith Dood! Lately his creations are tormented by mosquitoes and spiders dropping in from above. Spiderwebs everywhere too! Of course WuFlu-shaped heads and creatures abound. This issue also features altered High School Yearbook ads from the '50s and '60s. I love these comics so much! But can the Dith Dood keep up such a prolific output? Let's hope so!

The "shitty job tale" segment of the zine scene must be the biggest part. I guess it's something that everyone can relate to. Even if you're in a good position now, you've been a shitkicker at some…

Just remember that Trump won a "Fair & Free" election by losing the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes. If it weren't for the outdated Electoral College, he would not be POTUS.

Yes, but it was a reply to the comment you left here. There was a link in the reply, so I'm not sure if LJ marked it as spam as a result. I have no idea how overzealous their system is.

I replied to your new comment on a previous post about this, but I think LJ marked it as spam.
