Dear Yuletide Author,
Oct. 23rd, 2025 09:15 pmHello and happy Yuletide!! First and foremost: thank you so much for writing for me! This is going to be a very long letter because I'm constitutionally incapable of shutting the fuck up, but that's why I always begin by saying that I am genuinely incredibly easy to please; in every area of my life, I just love getting gifts that were given with me in mind, and Yuletide is no exception. I love having the opportunity to gift something that brings me joy to think about and is a delight to write, and I always want the same thing for my author. So while I hope my prompts inspire you and you can find a way to work my likes into whatever you write, what I want most of all is just something you're happy with and had fun writing! If that happens, I'll love it, guaranteed. I already can't wait to read what you come up with!
In terms of things I'd ideally want out of a fic, though, broadly speaking, I love character- rather than plot-driven stories (not that the two can't happily coexist, of course, but my favorite stories tend to follow an emotional arc or a relationship development rather than characters dealing with an external conflict or a really intricate plot) with happy or at least hopeful endings (I'm fine with a more bittersweet hinting-at-the-light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel type ambiguity, but would strongly prefer more overt happiness, and I really and truly do NOT want any serious or lasting tragedy involved).
My major DNWs are needles (I have a huge phobia and would deeply rather no mention of them at all, but if it does come up, please please please keep it brief and be sure to clearly warn for me!) and significant involvement of serious issues beyond those explored in canon (e.g. racism, homophobia, character death, serious assault/injury, etc. etc.). Basically, let the tone of canon be your guide here -- canon-typical serious issues the characters have already experienced is totally fine, bringing more serious issues into a lighthearted canon would very much not be my jam. (For example: absolutely impossible to disentangle the premise of Sinners from the brutality of racist violence, so I would go into anything in that fandom ready for at least the specter of that hanging over it, if not outright directly reckoning with it. But by contrast, an OMITB fic that centers on Will's experiences of racism would feel really tonally mismatched!) (Similarly, I'd be fine with a Sinners fic that features canon-typical violence, and I've prompted a few at-least-horror-adjacent things for Dirt Man. But any extracanonical tragedy in a Rutherford Falls fic or, god forbid, putting any seriously upsetting content into a Cyclist Friend Explains Necessity Of $35 Socks fic would be profoundly out of place.)
More generally, here are some of my likes and dislikes:
Likes: banter, UST/pining/slow burn, first kisses/makeouts that don't immediately lead to sex (either by design or by accidental interruption), fluffy ridiculous romcom-y tropes, people being very competent at what they do (and other people enjoying it), little canon easter eggs, found families, intricate tangles of relationships among large groups of people, cute animals, puns, and the general concept of hope and humanity's essential goodness triumphing over darkness and existential despair! (I've requested a couple of fandoms this year that are either darker than my usual fare or have the potential to go in that direction, so don't feel the need to force this -- but on the whole, I want endings that are bittersweet/open-ended-but-hopeful at absolute worst.)
Dislikes: misogyny in m/m relationships/demonization of female characters for the sake of m/m, misogynistic dirty talk (e.g., "slut"/"whore"), noncon, infidelity, excessive jealousy/possessiveness, excessive kinky elements, A/B/O, mpreg, daddy kink, first- or second-person POV, and contrived miscommunication conflicts that could be resolved with a single, simple statement of clarification!
I generally tend to be a fan of both AUs and explicit porn, but my preferences will differ based on fandom, so I'll include specific notes regarding my feelings re both in each fandom's prompt section!
Some additional references include my trope sorter and kink sorter results -- the rankings should be treated pretty flexibly, as the first half-dozen or so on each list are all pretty close together in terms of things I love! I am also blindmadness on AO3.
Okay--now let's talk specifics! On to the fandoms!
( Sinners (2025) )
( Rutherford Falls (TV) )
( Dirt Man - Carter Vail (Song) )
( Only Murders in the Building (TV) )
( Two Guys From Brooklyn's Fight Turned Meet Cute - Make Some Noise Sketch )
( Cyclist Friend Explains Necessity Of $35 Socks - The Onion )
