FAMILY REUNION

Image
Hawaii Cruise 2009

On June 5th we celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We rented a lodge at Bear Lake and had all of our family together for five days. All but Cameron and Cecia and Maryn and Ben. We had a great family reunion even though the weather was bad with rain every day.

On August 15th we celebrated again with a cruise on the Hawaiian Islands. Along with our friends Clayton and RayAnn Furch we flew to Honolulu and went abord the Pride of America cruise ship. We had a week of fun and relaxation. Here are some pictures to show we really did go. We visited the Big Island, Maui, and Kauai.

ImageWINTER WONDER-LAND

This is indeed a winter wonder-land. I wonder when winter will leave this land. This week we got a foot and a half of new snow on top of what we already had. It is piled up higher than our car in some area's in Chimney Hills.

Grandma took the "worm" out to play in the snow and he wanted his picture taken so I did so and now share with all of the family.

We are off to the temple soon and this week we work every night. It is a long week.

Looking forward to SPRING!!!

Winter Wonderland

NAMMA AND THE SLEIGH RIDE

We are now in the middle of a snowy winter. Namma Karen determined to talk the worm out for a sleigh ride down the hill. The first couple of times were great with namma hanging on to the worm. Then he wanted to go alone and raised a fuss with namma being on the sled. So she let him go.....down, down over the jump off and over the rocks to the sidewalk below. When she rushed to his aid he was on the sleigh and sitting up laughing. Namma is going to have nightmares over this one.

So goes the tending of the worm.

Halloween's Coming

GRANDPA'S TRIP TO THE DOLLAR STORE

Image

Well, Grandpa went shopping at the Dollar Store and spent a whopping $2.00 on "The Worm". He is now having a ball with the results. What more could a grandpa do with $2.00 that to see him with his lighted lantern and pumpkin with Grandma's treats in it. He is spending most of the morning in the bathroom with the door closed so he can see the shadows of the lantern.

Almost wish I were young again and going Trick or Treat!!!

BALLOONS-BALLOONS-BALLOONS

Image
UP-UP- AND-AWAY

This morning we got up at 5:30 a.m. and picked up our friends the Furch's and drove up to Liberty for the annual Balloon Launch. Karen packed muffins, milk, and orange juice for our breakfast. There were a lot of people gathered in a farmer's cow pasture and there were 14 balloons in various stages of being inflated ready to fly. We had our muffin snacks and watched the preparations.

ImageImageSo much for our early morning adventure. We have to rest now as this has broken our routine and us old folks need a routine! What a beautiful sight seeing these pretty balloons rising up with the sunrise over the mountains. Beautiful sight and a beautiful morning.

Dog Days of Summer

Image
We have not done much of late so I have not blogged. This week the worm came for a visit and we have been very busy chasing him. His mother went to a three day conference with the school teachers where she works. One night as we were sitting outside in the evening we looked away and when we looked back he was off and running over to Glenn's house. The garage was open and in he went. By the time I got to the garage he was pounding on Glenn's door and Mrs. Glenn opened it and invited him in. I just missed catching up with him and when I went in he made a bee line for the couch and was up on the couch sitting next to Glenn jabbering away. The rest of the guests (they were having a dinner party) were at the table eating. Glenn was on the couch talking to his children on the phone. Well I retrieved him with our apologies and made a fast exit.

The next day we took him to the park where they had a newly installed water "what ever you call it" and he had a ball. It had many different water sprays and the usual slipper slides and swings. An hour or so at the park and we were worn out, but not the worm. He was going strong and we had to drag him away. That afternoon we filled our little pool with water and he was at it again.

Well he went back home last evening and we relaxed. Grandma said. "we sure love the little guy, but it is like hitting yourself on the head with a hammer...it sure feels good when it stops!".
ImageSo much for our week in review.

Old Men and Their Glasses

Image

OLD MEN AND THEIR GLASSES

My face in the mirror
Isn't wrinkled or drawn
My house isn't dusty
The cobwebs are gone.
My garden is lovely
And so is my lawn
I think I shall never
Put my glasses back on.
