The Bookatorium is a free-form book club for SF and fantasy and related stuff. Anyone who's interested in reading the books and prepared to discuss them in good faith is welcome. Currently we are reading a selection of Hugo, Clarke Award, BSFA Award, and Nebula Award nominees. There will be one post per book (see the sticky book list for links). Feel free to be as spoilery as you like in the comments. Also feel free to post links to reviews on your own blog if you'd rather write reviews there than here.
Note I am not moderating; indeed I plan to switch off comment notifications for stuff I haven't read yet, so I won't necessarily see any comments until I've finished the relevant book. Be excellent to each other. Individual posts list publisher and trigger warnings (but again, I haven't read all the books yet so can only list TWs for the ones I've read; message me if you think something should be added).
Currently membership and commenting is open to everyone. Anonymous comments are allowed (but IP addresses are recorded). If you post anonymously please sign your posts with a consistent tag (doesn't need to be your name or anything identifiable, it just helps other people know that they're talking to the same person). If you have e.g. a Livejournal account then you can log in using OpenID if you like, instructions here: https://www.dreamwidth.org/openid/

Awards season
Jan. 10th, 2017 06:07 pmHugo nominations just opened and the BSFA Awards are mid-way through the process of creating a shortlist. What are you looking forward to reading/nominating for awards?
Hugo and Clarke awards added
May. 7th, 2016 06:48 pmI've added the Hugo finalists and Clarke shortlist. I put in all the Hugo novel finalists because the puppy slates are more complex this year, and along with many others I think that we're more likely to want to judge the slate works on their own merits this year. Of the two puppy slate novels, I think _Seveneves_ would probably have been on the ballot whether or not it was being pushed by a slate. That just leaves the Jim Butcher, which is likely to be diverting and non-offensive, so might as well stay.
