The comm has been quiet so instead of posting my ramblings at LJ's Sin & Salvation, I thought I'd give this place a boost.

I've been out of BPAL buying & swapping for a long time. I have been watching the discontinuations over the last year or so. I panicked when I saw the Carnival was going dark (but have since learned it's only for artwork, not permanent).

I broke the drought to sell, swap and buy some bottles last week from other members. I was going through my bottles today to get an idea of what I have, what levels they are at and what backups I have. I've realised a few interesting things:

1) Out of my 8 backup bottles, 4 are of Western Diamondback. (And yes, when the new artwork comes up I'll probably nab an extra one just to have one with new artwork---maybe I can work a trade out with someone for one of my aged, old label bottles for their new label to save funds)

2) Out of the 28 current bottles I use (not including the 8 still to come), I am now considering selling/swapping another 3 to 5 I would have never thought I'd let go of. They are nice, I wear them to some degree but no longer feel like I must keep them & maybe someone else would appreciate them more. This will be seriously considered when I'm over my cold and can actually smell things correctly.

3) Out of the above 28 current bottles, most are LEs and I think I will be hard pressed to pick up replacements when they are gone. I don't think this will be a huge problem, I've got more than enough smellies to carry me and while I'll miss many of the LE's, other than something like Brom Bones or Sea Rat I will be sad but not gutted.

So tell me, has the Carnival darkening (or other discontinuations) helped you reconsider your stash? Have you broken down and ordered stuff from the Carnival or the Catalog for fear of it disappearing? Or are you holding out on your order for the revision or the next Update? What is the composition of your favourites? Are they mostly LE? GC? A mix?
