Erika’s tips for getting organized
- I suggest using dry erase markers – students can write on a window or mirror. They can make lists of things that they need to do, and can also practice writing and spelling, etc.
- Create a visible at-home schedule, for students of all ages, including the time to play or relax, and a time that clearly marks the end of the school day.
- Have them make a list each night of everything that needs to be accomplished the next day – have your student review their list each night to celebrate everything that they have accomplished.
- Establish a designated spot in the house for schoolwork – this will help them know that in that space they do their schoolwork, but outside of that space school is done.
- Use color coding or pictures to help students easily identify their notebooks and folders.
