Does anybody remember me? I was thinking about LJ and how it was such a big part of my college years and now I'm an old lady with a kid and a mommy blog. Jeebus. Anyhoo, you can find me at germama.com (or on Facebook and Twitter). I'm still reading your posts when I can!!
Hey LJ! Just wanted to update you all. Rory Michelle was born a week ago (already been a week?! Agh!) on July 30 at 5:26 pm. My water broke at 3:45 am the day before, on the 29th. I was only 37 weeks and was sooo not prepared for that! It was a looong, 38 hour labor. I may try to post about it sometime. 7 lbs, 7 oz. 20 in long. We are adjusting to life at home and so far she is a very good, happy baby :)

Just a quick note to say I'm still alive. I'm still using Facebook more these days, because it's easier to post a bunch of one sentence updates per day than have to put together paragraphs with many sentences. Yes, I am that lazy. Plus there's not much going on except for being pregnant and all the things related to that, and I didn't want this to turn into just a baby blog. So now it's basically a non-blog. Not sure if that's any better!
Ugh. I am trying to plan a vacation for me and Ralf to take before we turn into lame parents, but I've decided I have no idea how to plan a vacation. First we were thinking of an all-incusive somewhere, but I don't think it's worth paying for that when I can't drink. Then I was looking for just a nice resort somewhere in Florida but I have no idea how to choose one. Then I was thinking maybe Disney, but we'd be going at the beginning of April which would be a really busy time what with spring/Easter breaks going on. So bleh, I have no idea what to do, or how to get a good deal. *whine*

My first week as a hausfrau was initially productive, but kind of lazy towards the end of the week. On Monday I tackled the master bathroom, which had been greatly neglected despite it being the most used bathroom in the house. I mopped the floor for what I believe to be the first time since we moved here almost three years ago. Yeah, gross. Tuesday I cleaned the master bedroom really well, which made me realize how empty it is. It at least needs some art on the walls or a plant or something. And curtains.
Then again, I read this article in a magazine about living simply, and it sounded rather interesting. I know in recent years we have spent a lot of money on things that were not necessities, and while it's nice to be able to have nice stuff, you eventually start to amass too much stuff. I've gotten rid of a lot of clutter over the past year, but there is so much more that could go and we probably wouldn't miss it. Ralf has been rather resistant to my decluttering, so I really only get rid of things that were mine or things that he probably doesn't even remember we had.
I've been learning more about the FlyLady method of housekeeping, and I think it could work for me. Yeah, it's hokey and kind of makes me feel like a minivan driving soccer mom, but honestly, that is kind of the path I'm on right now so I might as well embrace it. (I am trying with all my might to avoid actually owning a minivan, but have heard so many stories of people who swear they will never drive them but eventually give in to the convenience. Ugh.) So some slow progress is being made on our den of filth and it's actually very refreshing to wake up to a clean room and go into a clean bathroom and not feel grossed out by the amount of my hair living on the floor.
As for me, I think this fetus is going through a growth spurt, judging from the discomfort in my lower regions and the low back pain. Fun! According to one website, at 14 weeks it is now about the size of lemon and is now able to pee, among other things. Eww. I have a bit more of a belly, though I'm inclined to believe it's from not working out and eating like a cow. I kind of want to avoid getting enormous, and I'm just recently starting to get my energy back, so hopefully I can start moving again.
This is becoming long-winded, so I'm going to try to get something done now.

Sooo... honestly I still read my friends page every day, but the posting has gone to crap. Things here are going well and I feel pretty good! I am no longer so exhausted that I have to go to bed at 7:30. AND I was able to quit my job that was driving me batty so I can focus on the house and getting ready for the impending infant. "It" will be coming in August so we still have time, but I'll be glad to get a cleaning routine down and not live in filth.
I thought maybe I had more to say but I doubt anyone cares about organizing my cleaning schedule or anything else about my boring existence. This is probably why I don't post anymore...

Today is chockfull of celebrity birthdays—Brad Pitt, Keith Richards, Christina Aguilera, and more. What celebrities do you share your birthday with? Do you find any similarities between you and those who share your birthday?
I share the fabulous birthday of January 13 with Orlando Bloom and Patrick Dempsey. I find striking similarities between the three of us, being that we are all dead sexy, and were all involved in an amorous encounter that included pirate costumes and spray cans of whipped cream.
Oh wait... I think I dreamed that.
Actually, and I'm not gonna lie, last night I dreamed about having dirty nasty sex with Bill Bixby of Incredible Hulk fame. Random dead 70s icons FTW!
Heyyyyy, how's it goin?
